I sprained my index finger five days ago, but I can't fully bend it. Do I need X-Rays or will it just heal naturally? How do I know if it is broken?

Should I have my finger x-rayed? I don't know if i jammed, sprained or broke my index finger. I assume i didn't break it because i can bend it at the second joint at a 90 degree angle, but with slight pain, i'm assuming the best idea is to ice and tape it
