Unlikely: Carpal tunnel is caused by entrapment of the median nerve in the carpal canal. It produces numbness and tingling in the thumb, index, middle and half of the ring finger. Swelling can be a component, but carpal tunnel at your age is extremely rare and usually due to a secondary cause.
