Don't need to: There is a whole market of products available to cleanse colons. I would focus on using fiber, and taking probiotics. I think too many colon cleanses are likely more harm than good, and there is no really good evidemnce to support this practice. ACTH-stim test?: Hi. Are you having an ACTH stimulation test, where they inject ACTH (1-24) aka Cosyntropin and measure cortisol in response? Assuming so, no, you do NOT have to be fasting for it. Not recommended: it is started at a once a day dose, and I recommend it early in the morning. One of the most common side effects are very vivid and sometimes scary dreams/nightmares and these happen more if its taken late in the day. When you start taking it twice daily, which is the maintenance dose, I recommend 6am and 6 pm, not right before bed. Good luck with quitting!! ...Read more
I would add that: If you are going for an MRI wear as little metal as possible since they will often have to be removed. So remove all necklaces, bracelets, zippers, bras (with clips). If you come dressed in sweat pants or a t shirt without any metal you can go in by simply emptying your pockets. Sometimes you have to fast for yuor MRI - if it involves your gall bladder.
