A : A "whooshing" sound that varies with positional changes of the head and neck may represent turbulent blood flow through a partially narrowed carotid artery system whose internal branch runs close to the middle ear internally. Other entities, such as glomus tumors potentially could present this way. Tinnitis, often caused by high frquency nerve deafness, typically isn't positionally related. I would start by seeing an ENT physician to rule out otologic causes first, have someone listen to your carotid and vertebral arteries for bruits, and consider duplex studies of your vessels if deemed appropriate. ...Read more

Stiffness from cast: I assume you leg was immobilized during the healing of your tibia fracture. Any joint that is immobilized for any significant length of time (more than 7-10 days) would get stiff. Physical therapy working on motion after the cast or splint/brace is removed should allow knee to regain essentially full functional motion with time (6-12 weeks). ...Read more
