Confusion/Lethargy: Several types of shock: cardiogenic, septic, hypovolemic etc. Patients with any of these will be treated in the ICU and are treated diffirently depending on the type. Altered mental status can happen as the result of dehydration that can be caused by increase urination; however it also could be caused by low serum sodium, diabetes, high serum calcium, infection etc also have to be ruled out. Possibly..: If the altered mental status is due to a high potassium level, then yes. It is possible, however, that the high potassium level could be a manifestation of some other underlying issue, such as a kidney issue, high blood sugar, etc. If that is the case, then the underlying issue would likely need to be resolved as well.
