After treatment: Depends upon cause. Urinary retention due to constipation/fecal impaction (not common) will resolce once impacted stool is removed. Also if caused by infection. Most cases of retention develop over time & don't go quickly. Ur from an enlarged prostate may resolve slowly on medication or quickly surgery.(my preference).
