Are there any supplements for anxiety when taking hydrochlorothiazide, irbesartan andamlodipine besylate?
Not yet: You're already taking 3 medications for high blood pressure which have side effects. Write down when you started each one and when your anxiety started. Relaxation techniques and ways to cut your stress should also be explored. ...Read more
I am using Prozac (fluoxetine) 20 mg daily for anxiety. Is it safe to take gingko biloba supplements with prozac (fluoxetine). I read that this herb might interact with antidepressants.?
Possible interaction: Gingko and Prozac (fluoxetine) are both metabolized by the same liver enzyme system, so can compete for use of this. Also gingko can slightly inhibit this enzyme system, possibly slowing prozac's metabolism. There is also anecdotal evidence that gingko + Prozac (fluoxetine) in depressed patients can lead to hypomania -- but we don't know whether gingko alone can do this (without the prozac). ...Read more
Yes: It is very safe and even a good idea to take magnesium supplements with this medicine. Triamterene/hctz is known to sometimes cause magnesium deficiency. The best absorbed forms tend to be magnesium glycinate & taurate; citrate is pretty good too. Too much magnesium can have a laxative effect- this could potentially cause electrolyte imbalances so do not use it for a laxative effect. ...Read more
