Does an ovarian cyst causes pain during sex have to be a large one or can it be small in size? And is it necessarily cancerous?
Are there medications other than surgery to decrease the size of large benign 13 CM simple ovarian cyst or at least prevent it from getting bigger?
No: There are many reasons a 13 cm cyst needs to be removed by surgery: unknown type, rupture, torsion, ... often the cyst can be removed without removing the ovary. It would be w-a-y outside standard of care (at least in the US) to "observe" this rather than remove. If it hasn't been removed for tissue, how do you really know it's benign? ...Read more
I have a large ovarian cyst. My OBGyn says it is the size of a grapefruit. I forgot to ask is it ok to exercise? I don't want it to rupture.
Okay to exercise:
Usual exercise is not likely to affect the cyst.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.
Practice safe sex. ...Read more
My tvs scan shows both ovarian cyst also size of ovary larger. Have no kids.4 yrz of marriage. Can I tak danazole or laproscope best for fertility n cys?
Neither: Your doctor may chose to treat or just watch the cyst (s) depending on their size and appearance. Danazol is used to treat the pain of endometriosis, not infertility. It is neither safe nor effective for fertility treatment. Laparoscopy is surgery and should not be the first treatment for infertility, unless the doctor wishes to treat the cyst. ...Read more
Period was 6 months late. Found I have 2mm ovarian cyst and have been bleeding for past month+ with big sized blood clots any idea why? Thank you inad
The most likely:
Reason is irregular ovulation. Without cyclic changes in hormones estrogen is steadily produces causing growth of, then falling away of, the uterine lining. A 2mm cyst is barely detectable, sure not 6 cm? In any event, look up pcos. Do not despair if this is the problem; short term consider pill to prevent anemia. There are many good tx for pcos (see metformin) if that is the case.

Go to an emergency room if you get worsening pelvic pain as it could mean the cyst has burst or your ovary has twisted. Birth control pills help to prevent cysts but you don't have to take them if you don't want to. For sure follow up in 3 months with your physician. ...Read more

EXTREMELY unlikely: I would almost say 100% no. That size of a cyst is too large to resolve itself, and should be removed surgically, due to the risks of it being a tumor (need to rule out malignancy) and due to the risk of torsion (where the ovary twists around it's artery and vein, cuts off the blood supply to it and causes severe pain). Sorry, but you really need to have surgery to remove it. ...Read more
