What Sickness Is Going Around In Mo
Had a liver U/S at one co. last year and it was clear, at a different co. 8 mo later they found moderate liver disease. Mistake, or getting worse?
Need more info: Too little information, too vague to make recommendation beyond seeing health care provider to review. What seen? Fat in liver, mass, cirrhosis, inflammation? Are you overweight, diabetic? Do you drink excess alcohol &/or have chronic hepatitis C or B virus infection? Progression in one year possible with said risk factors. Get seen, GI or liver specialist if possible ...Read more
What is the typical day care illness in the first year. My son has been sick since day care 10 mo-18 mo. Typical or poor hygiene?
Fairly typical: Kids in day care can have a new cold every month. Ultimately this is a good thing (so long as they're otherwise healthy) as the broad exposure to different viruses and "germs" helps their immune system to develop as it should - robust and able to handle lots of stuff later on. Kids who are raised in "sterile" surroundings often end up having problems like asthma and lots of allergies. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Was told liver ezymes were still normal range (32 and 50) after doubling 1 mo accutane. If they raise more by end 2nd mo. could I get liver disease?
I am pretty sure my 5 year old has fifth disease. Is there anything I should do? I also have a 8 mo old will she be ok if she gets it?
Not to worry: Since fifth disease is caused by a virus and is generally a mild, self-limiting disease (that means you really don't need to do anything about it!), no need worry. That goes for your 8 month old as well. Only problem that is serious is if a pregnant woman who has never had it gets a primary infection. That can pass to unborn baby and cause problems with the blood cells. If pregnant, let doc know. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Psychology:Adult acquaintenance with daily manic episodes is visiting for one mo. Besides empathy for this person with the disorder what else helps?
Be clear w/in: yourself about how much time you will spend w/friend when manic. If not, he will run your schedule and your day. You can give him 1/2 hour, for example, when he's like that and then have him entertain himself until later. You can tell him this beforehand. Sounds like he is being treated professionally. If not, provide a referral. Peace and good health. ...Read more

Tachycardia 40 yr female. Started 8 mo ago w/pneum. No meds no illness.Lay down heart rate 60s. Immed stand and 120. Cardio &electrophys no idea. What?
Cf would be evident if it existed in my 14 mo old right? He's had periods of vomiting w/out illness, constant resp infect, coughing. All since birth.
Workup/M.D. visit: CF is one possible cause of frequent respiratory infections and a sweat chloride test is used to help diagnose CF in addition, there are many forms of immunodeficiency which can cause frequent infections. I also would suggest a chest xray to view the thorax. Reflux and possible aspiration into the lungs is another possibility.
