Beets have a high amount of potassium so people with ckd can not eliminate that excess potassium. High potassium in the body can lead to cardiac issues. Therefore avoid beets if your lupus nephritis caused chronic kidney disease. ...Read more

Needs immediate care: If he is having fevers and losing weight this is extremely serious. He needs to be under close supervision of a rheumatologist. If he is already seeing one, have him call that doctor immediately and explain his issues. If he does not, go to the er. I have lupus. On Plaquenil.Eat very health & exercise daily. My current labs & cholesterol look great & normal. Is it possible I no longer have lupus?

How much do genes play part in lipid panel? My total cholesterol 170, LDL 84, HDL 80, Triglycerides 63.I eat healthy & exercise daily & also have lupus

Genetics of lipids: Genetics are a powerful determinant of cholesterol metabolism. Some people eat super healthy and still have very high cholesterol requiring medicine to control. Others eat poorly and still have low cholesterol. By the way, treatment of lupus w/ steroid drugs can also contribute to development of heart disease.
