What Should I Feed My Nine To Twelve Month Old Baby
Is it safe to give an 8 month old baby Infant Tylenol (acetaminophen) every day during teething to help with teething pain & discomfort? Baby's weight is 18 lbs.
Finger foods: Your nine month old may be interested in finger foods at this point. Foods that you eat are often more interesting than jar foods. Avoid chocolate and egg white until a year. Appetite will vary day to day as growth slows a little. Continue massaging the gums with a soft cloth or brush as teeth erupt. Don't let baby fall asleep with a bottle or tooth decay will soon follow. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Are eggs really safe for 11 month old baby? What are the things to consider in feeding babies with eggs?
Eggs and Babies: I guess your baby is close to 1 yr by which eggs can be fed safely. Egg whites cause allergy (protein) than yolk which mainly has fats. Start w small amount yolk of hard boiled egg if your baby doesnt have any sign of allergies already, like eczema, asthma or strong family history, u can try a small amt of a hard boiled egg. Add white later. Expect baby to spit egg initially, as they acquire taste ...Read more
We have a month old infant who is gassy. We do our best to aggresively make him burp but within an hour after feed, he gets up crying from gas pain. Are there any other remedies?
Some possibilities: Babies swallow air- when they eat, suck or cry. During feedings, try to burp him in between every ounce, or between nursing on each side. Hold him upright (on your shoulder) for 15-20 minutes after feedings to help allow the air to rise up and escape, and not get trapped under the milk. Try a lactose free formula. Try simethicone (gas drops for infants). Check with your doctor if this continues. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
1 month old, formula feed infant has dark green poop that smells like skunk (sometimes stringy looking)...baby is gassy as well. Is this normal?
Could be: The first thing I would want to make sure is that your child is gaining weight appropriately and thriving. If that is the case, there are numerous things that could be of help, such as different formulas. That decision can be best made with your child's doctor who will know what formula your child is and/or has been on. Good luck. ...Read more

No cold baths!: To cool a hot house first turn down the thermostat then open the windows. Same with kids. Turn down the thermostat in the hypothalamus by giving Ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Place them in thin clothing & remove blankets. Ice baths are rarely needed & cause pain & anguish. But only break a high fever. Low grade fevers to 39 c. Help fight infection & are usually tolerated if you maintain hydration. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Food in infant: After 4 months of age it is safe to introduce all foods into an infant diet, but their are caveats. Only 1-2 new foods per week, and slowly at that to ensure no adverse reactions. Breast feeding is still recommended as 1st for first 4-6 months. If the child has eczema, there is a higher rate of food hypersensitivity. If unsure, speak with an allergist. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Yes, but...: In a healthy 9-month-old no food, including tuna, needs to be delayed to reduce allergies (in fact, feeding may reduce allergies). Great omega-3s in tuna, but watch out for accumulating mercury, especially during first 3 years. Wild salmon is a better first fish. If choose tuna: small, infrequent portions. And 'light' tuna better than 'white'. Some brands have lower mercury (smaller fish) options. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 3.5 month old baby sleeps for max 45 min stretches at night. This doesn't seem normal for babies of this age. Is this bad for his development?
Will get by: Baby will do better than you with this. I would change the kid back to a more traditional night pattern. If you never allow the kid more than 2 hours of sleep at a time during the day, waking him to feed or whatever, you can get his deep sleep segment to go back to nights when you don't wake him.Don't feed prior to sleep, only feed on awakening. ...Read more
