How much concentrated iburpofren infant's drops should I give my 8 lb baby. Of 2 weeks and 6 days?
?? Why ??: This med is never given to infants that young. It can injure the kidneys. Beyond that, why are you giving a baby that young pain medication? If it has fever >100.4 it needs to go to the ER immediately. If you assume there is pain, consult with your pediatrician before giving anything, s/he may want you to bring baby in for an evaluation. Put those drops away until at least 6 months. ...Read more

MFM: You need a consultation with maternal-fetal medicine specialist to help you find the answer to that question, and you need to do it before conception. There could be something wrong with you that is causing habitual miscarriage or there could be something genetically wrong that creates a fetus with a problem. These are the things that the MFM specialist will help you explore. ...Read more
Is it okay/healthy to continue giving distilled water to my 8 month with her feedings? We use arrowhead mountin spring water and they offer distilled water as well. Do babies meed flouride in their water?
Yes & yes: A water supplement is certainly ok for kids of any age. Distilled preparations do not have Fluoride & many bottled waters do not either. Fluoride would help baby form stronger enamel while they are building their teeth so it would be reasonable to make sure baby attained it in some form. Check with your doc about supplements if needed. ...Read more

I have an 8-month-old daughter. I started solid food(homemade) 2 months back. Should I add salt to her food? People say I should not add salt to baby food as the amount of sodium babies need is already there in the formula. She is on similac and the sod
It's true!: No need to add additional salt to infant foods. She is getting her salt requirements through formula and baby food. Adding salt will only cause her to acquire a taste for it, which in the long run is unhealthy. Additionally, excess salt at this age could cause electrolyte imbalances in her small body, which can have serious consequences. ...Read more

I had an ultrasound today at 8 weeks 3 days pregnant, the babies heart rate was 172 bpm is this normal? And a good sign of survival?
Normal HR: Normal heart rate at around 8 weeks. A normal HR at 8 weeks is a good sign but is not a good predictor of long term issues/survival. Take good care of yourself and work with your OB/GYN closely over the coming months and ask lots of questions. A new baby is a both an exciting and scary time. Good luck. ...Read more

Could be normal : Usually by 12 weeks fhts are heard on fetal doppler. If only a few seconds were tried, it wasn't a very dedicated attempt at listening. It's important to hear fhts both to document a live & healthy fetus and to reassure both mom & OB that all is well. If you have no cramps or bleeding & a nl us @ 8 weeks, your prob ok. It would have been better though if your OB had let you hear or see the fhr. ...Read more

Depends: Hi! Is this your first pregnancy? If you have had a miscarriage in the past then you may be at risk...
