What Should Babies Be Doing At 8 Months
About 2.5-3 oz. per : I use as a general estimate 2.5-3 oz. per pound per day.Example:a 10 pound 8 week old should be consuming between 25,and 30 oz. per day divided into 6-8 feedings or 3-5 ounces every 3-4 hours. Also if the baby is taking too much there might be some spitting up afterward.I recommend holding a baby in a manner that her/his head is above the stomach for 20-30 min after feeding ti minimize spitting up. ...Read more

I know you're probably worried if she's having seizures or something more serious like that. There's an entity called Infantile Spasms but she doesn't quite fit the criteria for that either. For a baby born at 35weeks + 3days who is lifting head, smiling and seems to be reaching milestones on time, does "adjusted" age have to be used?
Not after a few...: Not after the first few months. That's because term babies reach their milestones at their own pace, different from one another, so a 35 1/2 week "mild preemie" will reach milestones around the same time that some of the term babies will reach those milestones. However, it's good to tell any new doctors that the baby was a 35 1/2 weeker (until the baby is walking and talking). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Baby 5 days old sleeping for 8 hours without feeding (1st time) born at 37 weeks, slow at nursing but was told to expect that, is this normal?
TERM INFANT: 37 to 42 weeks is term pregnancy. Newborns sleep 18-20 hours a day. Feeding is needed every 3 hours on an average, night time gap can be 4-6 hours max. So wake the baby by gentle movement/ rubbing the back and offer feeding. Too much sleepiness combined with refusal / poor sucking, poor muscle tone, pallor, moaning, hypothermia are signs of infection. If these happens, talk to the pediatrician. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Pediatrician said my baby gains nothing from breastfeeding at this age and I should stop. He still nurses 6 times a day. Should I stop?
Nursing benefits.: Most strictly nutritional benefits from nursing occur in the first three months. Stopping becomes a decision based on maternal preference: demands/convenience secondary to work, etc., may be complicated by nursing, but formula supplements are certainly adequate to replace nursing if necessary. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
