What Should A 2 Year Old Hemogobin Levek Be
My 2 yr old son had bun, bun/creatinine ratio and hemoglobin done. His hemoglobin was 10.8, bun 17, and creatinine 40. What does this mean?Concerning?
Ok, with explanation: I suspect the creatinine was 0.40, not 40. Unless the units are different. Either way, the BUN and creatinine are fine in this case, and what you'd expect. The ratio, bun/cr is going to be huge since the creatinine is expected to be low. Don't worry about that. The hemoglobin is a little low, but not hugely low. Talk with your doc about iron rich foods and a recheck in a few months. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I am A 33 year old woman. Dr recently told me my hemoglobin was 16.9. I smoke is this the reason for it?
It can be..: Smokers do not get as much Oxygen in their blood as nonsmokers (hypoxia) because of the pollution that interferes with their lungs' functions. To compensate, their body makes more oxygen carriers: hemoglobin & red blood cells. This of course assuming you have no primary bone marrow or liver disorder. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

What does a low hemoglobin level mean? I was told that my 3 year old sons hemoglobin is low because he drinks to much milk. Is this true or is something else wrong. And if so what would it possible be?
Blood loss vs iron: Kids who consume more than 24-30 oz of milk/day can experience tiny amounts of blood loss thru the intestine due to irritation caused by the cow milk protein on the gut wall. Smaller amounts or boiled milk , don't seem to cause this problem. Blood loss, paired with the kids avoidance of other iron containing foods leads to low hemoglobin production & anemia.Other causes are also possible. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
