It seems that many believe that a "fracture" is a lesser injury or an incomplete break in the bone, but this is not correct. Fractures may be displaced or ...Read more
What to do if I have pretty bad back pain on a daily basis, some days are worse than others. what OTC pain reliever would be the best to help with the pain?
Glucosamine: I would recommend glucosamine sulfate and msm 1500mg per day for joint based pain that is related to articular cartilage wear. If you can get a micronized chondroitin sulfate this can help as well. This can also be helpful for maintaining your vertebral disc health. Most herniated discs resolves symptoms with time and appropriate exercises. If not then alternative treatments. ...Read more

Depends: Depends on type of pain. In general, tylenol (acetaminophen) and nsaids are first line. Just because on NSAID does not work does not mean another one wont work. Caffeine can help with pain too. Heat is also good for muscle pain. In the end, you need to find what works best for you. ...Read more

I take butrans for chronic pain, can any additional medication help if flareups still go beyond the level my patch? I already see a pain specialist.
Talk to your Doc: Assuming you are not having chronic pain related to cancer, the research related to the use of "as needed" pain meds (breakthrough meds) does not support it. Flare ups would need to last for an hour or more for additional medication to be effective. Most flare ups are short in duration. Too often patients who are given breakthrough meds just take them on a routine basis. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
