Can the cervical cancer shot counter the increased risk for cervical cancer from taking birth control pills?

Can the cervical cancer shot counter the increased risk for cervical cancer from taking birth control pills?

Much more than!: The increased risk of cervical cancer from use of birth control is tiny, if at all, depending on what studies you read. However, the hpv vaccine reduces your risk of cervical cancer by 75-80%, so it is way better! you figure if there is an increased risk of 1-2% from birth control pills, or even it was as much as a 5-10% difference, (which no way it is), then the vaccine really wins out. ...Read more

I have had the runs since september 15 2012 my body aches all the time i've tried over-the-counter stuff doesn't help is it cancer?

Issues with "Runs": Having symptoms since 2012 is a long time to have had this issue. I wonder if you have an inflammatory disease of the intestines like ulcerative colitis or crohns. While these usually are associated with blood in the stool, you will need a work up to determine the cause of your symptoms. You should get evaluated sooner rather than later. Hope this helps. ...Read more

If someone has lung cancer, would standard over-the-counter chesty cough medicine ease their coughing?

If someone has lung cancer, would standard over-the-counter chesty cough medicine ease their coughing?

It may: The cause of the cough also might not be the lung cancer. My hope is that the patient can find relief. If the diagnosis is uncertain, don't make any assumptions. A treatable cause, especially if the person is a smoker, might be identifiable. Even if this is not a treatable lung cancer, palliative care may find a way to help. ...Read more

How long can a cancer cell survive out of the body. If there was a metastic cell for example in blood that spilled on a counter how long would it liv?

How long can a cancer cell survive out of the body. If there was a metastic cell for example in blood that spilled on a counter how long would it liv?

Not long: I do not believe any professional studies have been performed on this question. However, since it is very difficult to keep tumors growing in controled situations outside of the body, it can be assumed that the survival of a cancer cell on its own, without a blood or food supply =, would be very short. ...Read more

How long can a cancer cell survive in a drop of blood spilled on a counter. I assume not long but are we talking minutes, an hour, many hours? Thx

How long can a cancer cell survive in a drop of blood spilled on a counter. I assume not long but are we talking minutes, an hour, many hours? Thx

Not catching: Cancer cells are very fragile and will die as soon as the drying process begins. You cannot catch a malignancy from another person; your body will reject the cell as it would a transplant. If this were not the case, then people who get blood transfusion -- and a fair number of donors must have unknown cancers cells in their blood -- would come down with metastatic disease. It doesn't happen. ...Read more
