Many possible Dx: I assume you do not have pain when resting but activities like walking, running, even lifting or carrying probably cause this discomfort/pain. Depending on your usual activities, you could have a chest muscle strain (most likely cause). Inflammation of the lining of the lung called pleuritis cd cause similar Sx. Normal? No: While such a pain is not "normal", it is unlikely to be anything serious. Many pains like this simply pass with time and simple anti-inflammatories (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, acetaminophen) are worth a try.
