Should I be worried if my little brother went swimming in water were amoeba organisms were present? He did not go underwater.

The biggest risk: Is in swallowing that water if it's something like giardia. Monitor for abdominal pain or diarrhea. The only other risk I can think of is hookworm that could enter through skin usually by the feet ...Read more

Should I be worried about amoeba organisms if I did not go under water? What if only a few drops got on my nose?

Should I be worried about amoeba organisms if I did not go under water? What if only a few drops got on my nose?

No,: There have been only 132 cases in 50 years of PAM due to that amoeba., Naegleria fowleri. When you swim in fresh water, wear nose guards There are lots of other things in fresh water that are more likely to cause disease. ( Why I like salt water or that nice chlorine in pools!). I wouldn't worry about that amoeba, since it is so rare and you didn't get any water up your nose. There is drug now. ...Read more

My friend wanted to detoxify organism so he tried to drink water with salt and after that he vomited two times with blood. Is this serious? Nowhesfine.

Never do this?: I am not sure why he would do this as this old fashioned and proven to be harmful . People used to drink epsom salts. All this does is make you ill, can cause hypernatremia, as well as dehydration and diarrhea. .The emesis with blood suggest gastric irritation and may need to see a GI doctor for evaluation. Suggest that never do this again. By the way to detoxify oneself is bogus. Best wishes. ...Read more

My diet is high in fatty foods. Could this be why I have oil in stool water?

My diet is high in fatty foods. Could this be why I have oil in stool water?

Steatorrhea: Two things are likely at play here: (1) the high fat content of your diet, and (2) the likelihood that your body has a problem absorbing the fat in your diet. It's unlikely that you're overwhelming your fat-absorptive mechanism with dietary fats, so there may be an absorption issue here as well. You should see a GI doctor for relevant diagnostic testing. ...Read more

I haven't gain weight but my face much bigger than before, i had enough water and don't eat high sodium food, what is the reason? How to make it small?

Fat or water: If you have recently gained weight, your face will be bigger from fat. If you haven't, then you may have swelling from fluid, which can have many causes. Best to see a doctor for an initial check to make sure there isn't a medical reason for facial swelling. (rarely, this is the result of kidney problems, low protein level, excess corticosteroids, vein blockage, etc.) good luck. ...Read more

Hi, I drank water on Saturday in an 8hr span and before I drank I ate high sodium foods, and after I also ate some snacks, can I get central pontine?

Hi, I drank water on Saturday in an 8hr span and before I drank I ate high sodium foods, and after I also ate some snacks, can I get central pontine?

Doubtful: The central pontine demylin you are worried about is with rapid intravenous changes , lowering the sodium rapidly. Oral intake is a slow process and you would really would have to had extreme intake of salts to make a significant difference in serum sodium and then massive amounts of water to dilute the Na. Moderation it important. I wouldn't fool around drinking gallons of water and eating salt ...Read more

My blood test showed CRP as 0.2 mmole/l. Is this low, normal or high? Would fasting without food or water for about 13 hrs prior affect the results?

C-reactive protein: Always get reference range w/your lab result so that you can tell whether you're low, normal or high. Reference ranges depend upon lab equipment used as well as units. Female Orgasm: This is a very common situation and you are not abnormal. But sometimes the clitoris is not stimulated with sexual intercourse. Females often have to learn to manipulate this tissue during intercourse to reach orgasm. They can also have their partner perform oral sex to bring them to orgasm. I consume 6-8pints of water per day and have an average type body with about average activity levels, is it safe for me to have 2oz of bourbon a day?

Not really!: It doesn't go that way, that the more water you consume, the safer it is to consume bourbon.Alcohol can be dehydrating, and depending on your BMI, you could be overdiluting and drinking too much water! So, best is to avoid alcohol or bourbon daily, altogether. It's toxic to nerves. Speak to ur PCP on why you're drinking so much water? More importantly? Have that worked up! Need to find out cause! ...Read more
