No ideal supplement: Exercise is indeed the best way to lose weight. I recommend LIFTING WEIGHTS because that increases muscle- which will continually burn fat, even while you're NOT working out. It may seem counterintuitive- but I've seen better results that way. I don't recommend any 'magic pills'/supplements although there's lots of crap out there. I would avoid them: Other than alli, which most patient don't like because of side effects (greasy stool), these agents are generally not approved for long term use because of unknown safety. And in my experience, everyone who takes them and then stops gains the weight right back. They are just not a good solution in the long run. Cutting down on fatty foods, snack foods, and refined carbohydrates, and reducing portion sizes, along with regular exercise is the best way to reduce weight. depends on the cause: Several things can make it hard to gain weight. The main ones are inadequate intake of calories, need for hydrochloric acid ;/or digestive enzymes, malabsorption, inflammation of the intestines (possibly from intestinal parasites), celiac disease ; other food allergies, vitamin/mineral/amino acid deficiencies ; hyperthyroidism. Absolutely!: Hi. I hate to assume, but I'm forced to here. I will assume you're type 2. Type 1's MUST take insulin; tight control with insulin is associated with weight gain. For type 2's, the weight loss drugs are GLP-1 agonists (marvelous & amazing) & SGLT-2 inhibitors; metformin is weight neutral. I use a ton of GLP-1's, SGLT-2's, and/or metformin in combination.
