What Lungs Look Like After Quitting Smoking
I have circuitous of the liver. I quit smoking cigarettes and started smoking e cigarette which is worse I'm planning on quitting soon. Have I hurt m?
Probably not: There is no evidence that electronic cigarettes are worse than cigarettes, just a lack of evidence that they are any better. They do not have the high tar content of smoking tobacco, but they have the same amount of nicotine, and we simply don't know what the other things in e-cigs do - the propellant, oils, flavorings etc. It will not have done any more harm than smoking, and perhaps less. ...Read more
Deoxygenated blood enters the lungs from the right side of the heart and travels to the lungs. When you inspire, oxygen flows into the lungs, transverses the capilliares and attaches to hemoglobin down a gradient. At the same time, co2 diffuses into the capilaries and is expelled with exhalation. Oxygen rich blood then flows to the left side of the heart and into the ...Read more

Is the tar pigment ever removed from ur lungs such that they turn pink again after u stop smoking(both marijuana and cigaretes)?Iv smoked for 10 years
Not necessarily: We have reflexes built into our airways, before you get to the air sacs of the lungs, that cause coughing to get rid of large or irritant particles. Excessive coughing can lead to a choking sensation, and actually may result in vomiting. Anything we smoke gets into the body through the air sacs of the lungs, otherwise we would not have any effect from them, whether it is thc, nicotine or cocaine. ...Read more
I smoke e cig to aide in quitting- I have a nicotine test coming up coming up in 10 days. Will nicotine be gone. On e-cig 5 days. Modernate smoke?
I would so "no": Usually, 10 days is considered to be the outside time limit to detect nicotine after it has been ingested. However, the tests are very sensitive & depending on age & dose, cotinine (a nicotine metabolite) has been detected as long as 3 months after. Current use of e-cigarettes and/or vaping will very possibly result in positive nicotine tests, though, apparently, not ALL e-cigs contain nicotine. ...Read more
Hi, how bad is nicotine without all these bad substances from regular cigarette? I'm "smoking" e-cigarette a lot and i wonder is it bad for health?
It's just bad: A e-cig is a fancy modern way of giving people a very addictive drug. In america, we are free, free to go buy this drug and put it into our bodies... So no matter how one looks at it, the outcome will just be larger numbers of addicted people. For example, some people who quit smoking due to the toxic effects of smoke, will now resume their nicotine addiction with the cleaner e-cigs. ...Read more
Approximately how long does it take to develop lung cancer from smoking cigarrettes? Do electronic cigarrettes actually help a person quit smoking?
Why take a chance?: Cigarettes cause more than 90% of lung cancers, and more than 90% of many other cancers. Having said that, you can smoke all your life and never get cancer; you can also get lung cancer if you have never smoked a cigarette in your life. Smoking is like playing russian roulette. Electronic cigarettes help you quit, only if you are serious about quitting. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Started a non smoking cessation and decided to go on vapour ecigarrettes. Will my shortness of breath from smoking stop and chest tightness?
Everyone is: different but setting target date to stop and then stopping completely on that day can be effective. Learning some self-hypnosis can support this plan of action. Chewing gum or eating mints is useful, especially at high risk times like coffee breaks. Not smoking can make things better but you need to see doctor. Better off w/out e-cigs. Peace & health. ...Read more
No: However, if you smell cigarette smoke it means you are inhaling small quantities of it. This is second-hand smoke. Occasional inhalation of smoke does not likely cause problems in most people, although people with asthma or other respiratory conditions may be unusually sensitive to its effects. Regular inhalation of smoke however can cause increase in infection and even potentially cancer. ...Read more
What are the side effects of smoking weed and cigarettes but taking a break from weed and start to smoke cigarettes more ?
Respiratory/heart: Neither is good to use, so taking "a break" from both would have the side effect of better health. Smoking tobacco or weed creates the same dilemma for lung health -inhaling partially combusted botanical material laced with chemicals. Equally, cardiovascular health is compromised by using either. Infections occur more frequently in smokers too. So quit both & try not to rationalize their use. ...Read more
