What Kind Of Tape Should I Use To Support My Knee And Back
Knee & back taping: Physiotherapists and patients use many different types of tapes and bandages. Adhesive, non-stretch (rigid) sports tape is generally the most appropriate to restrict undesired knee mobility or improve spine posture. (for knee or spine strapping 38mm is usually the most appropriate size). This should always be used in combination with hypoallergenic tape as an underlay, such as fixomull. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is a brace necessary for sports after ACL surgery? I am an athlete and am having ACL replacement surgery so that i can continue to be active. Will i need to use a brace to support my knee for the rest of my life when playing sports?
Hello: Strictly : Hello: strictly speaking you do not need to wear a brace after acl surgery. Some patients like the supportive feel of an acl brace during rehab. In some instances and some sports, a brace may help protect against collision-related reinjuries. I do believe there is no strongly overwhelming evidence to mandate a brace or to avoid a brace, so i discuss the above with the patient and help them decide. I generally advise those who get a brace to use it for the first year back to sports, unless they do some higher-collision-risk sports infrequently (for example, skiing), then i would have no problem with their wearing the brace a couple times a year for those occasions for several years. I would have problems with patients who feel they "must" have a brace: then i would want to rule out residual instability, and if that is ruled out, work with those patients to make sure they are confident on their feet. After all, the acl reconstruction should provide stability! i hope this helps! sincerely, jim hsu, md seattle, wa. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

What kind of exercise can I do with a lower back injury and a serious knee injury, especially when i didn't get any surgery?
Does kinesio tape help if you have a herniated disk in the lower back? Why does my knee hurt and burn just as much as my back?
Very little evidence: Kinesio tape has been shown to have very little or trivial benefit in treating musculoskeletal sports injuries, and there's less evidence to support using it in back injuries. Sciatica, or radicular back pain, will cause pain away from the injury which can be quite severe. The good news is that sciatica is very treatable and your back and leg pain should both resolve. ...Read more

While : While a more thorough evaluation by a physician (like an orthopaedic surgeon or someone trained in sports medicine) would be more likely to give you a firm diagnosis, the history and symptoms you provide may be consistent with a tear of the medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle. Can you detect any visible difference in the appearance of the muscles from affected to non-affected sides? Are there any other symptoms, perhaps related to your knee, that go along with this? If it continues to bother you, consdier getting checked out by someone who can give you a complete evaluation. Good luck! ...Read more
