What Kind Of Pregnancy Test Do Doctors Offices Use
Pregnancy: If you have regular menstrual cycles, a pregnancy test will be positive soon after your missed period (1-3 days). Some tests may detect things earlier. You can check a urine pregnancy test at home if you are concerned at all and have a blood pregnancy test at your doctor's office to confirm the pregnancy.
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
Bloated for almost four months now. Took a pregnancy test at the doctors office, came back negative. Should I be concern?
Not about pregnancy: If you have gained weight, it would help to increase your physical activity and reduce your intake of food. If you are sexually active and do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time.
Pretty quick...: ....probably as soon as you notice a missed period, but if you want to do a stealth attack on that poor little thing growing in there, then, depending on the test, about 10 days. Why? You taking bets? BTW, a commercial, over-the-counter urine test is pretty good. And just think, instead of waiting at the doctor's office you can wait in line at Rite-Aid!See 2 more doctor answers
I am curious to know why I had a positive home pregnancy test but at the doctors office it was negative?
Standard: This is a standard test for a female of child bearing age. It was negative because you aren't pregnant. They test because the medications given can possibly have an effect on the unborn child.
Two weeks late, and two home pregnancy test say negative and then a doctors office says negative, so what does this mean?
As above: Irregular period can be common. If this all negative it may mean u r not pregnant. If u want to have a child but not successful, see a fertility clinic. Good luck.
Had pregnancy test and lab called my office and told the secretary (work in doctors office). She told admin. Was that wrong?
Confidentiality: You have the right to tell the medical office where to call your tests reports and who can be told. Most offices will offer this. There are federal laws and regulations as well. If you think that your personal medical information has been improperly disclosed talk to your doctor and the office staff.See 1 more doctor answer
Is a blood pregnancy test accurate 18 days after sex? I got one at my doctors office last week and it was neg. Could I still be pregnant?
Is a first response early result pregnancy test more accurate then a dr. S office urine test? My home pregnancy test was pos but doc office was neg!
Took a pregnancy test the week my period was due at the doctors office and it tested negative, but my period has yet to arrive?
Repeat test: Typically, urine pregnancy tests are positive around the time a woman expects to come on her menstrual period. However, if conception was later than anticipated, the menstrual period may be delayed and the pregnancy test may turn positive a little later. Repeating the test a week from the previous one may be a good idea.See 1 more doctor answer

I had a pregnancy test at my doctor's office last week and it came back negative. I'm seeing signs though. What should I do? I'm scared!
See below: Did you have unprotected Sex? Did you miss a period? If the answer to either is no, testing for pregnancy would be premature. If the answer to both is yes, and you are more than 7 days past the date of the period, do a home pregnancy test. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine.
The same: They are usually the same. Urine tests.
Will a urine pregnancy test done at the doctor's office be accurate 19 days after suspected implantationn bleeding ended?
Trust the test: Urine pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period. If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection.
What does it mean if a home pregnancy test was positive, but the urine test at the doctor's office was negative?
Timing and technique: Was first morning urine used either time? Did you follow the instructions carefully, including the time within which the test should be read after adding urine? Did you start menstruating before or soon after the office test? If you have any doubts you should ask your doctor for a blood test that is more sensitive and specific.
No: It takes about 7-10 days from conception to implantation. Pregnancy test turns positive a few days later. It is usually preferable to wait till you miss a period to do blood test for pregnancy.
Contaminant?: There may be something that is causing a comtamination of the result. Hcg is a hormone, but it can have cross reactivity with other hormones in the blood in some instances. Fertility drugs and medications that contain HCG might interfere with pregnancy tests for hcg. Perhaps an antibody in the blood could be interfering also.
