Congratulations: On choosing a healthier lifestyle. Most successful people in this group start with one or two small changes and continue adding. They may start walking or running a bit more each day. They may substitute a salad for a full meal or fruit for a snack. These changes add up and aren't as difficult to track or manage everyday. Make sure you are getting in 60 grams or more of complete protein (animal source or from soybeans), lots of fresh vegetables and fruits, and avoid foods without nutritional value (like candy, snack foods, white bread). Diet: Losing weight is difficult but I believe that keeping weight off is more difficult. Calories do count and if you want to maintain your new weight you will have to restrict your daily calorie intake to about 1000-1200 calories unless you perform extremely vigorous work in your daily activities. The best documented diet is probably the mediterranean diet, i would use it and limit to less than 1800cal/day. Aerobic exercise at least 30min. A day and make these a lifelong habit.
