Yes: Germ cell tumors in the brain or in the body can lead to high beta HCG levels. Testicular and ovarian cancers can secrete beta hcg. In the brain these can present as choriocarcinomas. Is the hCG diet safe? I bought drops but am scared of side effects. I have ovarian cysts and heard hCG can turn them cancerous? Is this true?

It's silly stuff: The 'hcg diet' is an 800-calorie severely restrictive diet and this is why you lose weight. The overpriced placebo that is tacked on will probably do nothing. Further, HCG does not turn ovarian cysts cancerous. Why not take the money and join a fitness club, make friends, and embark on a far happier and less fear-darkened life? Cheers. ...Read more

Cyst & pregnancy: It sounds from your HCG levels that you are early in your pregnancy. During this time it is normal to have an ovarian cyst until the placenta develops and takes over hormonal production. It is also too soon to see the baby, don't worry. HCG @ 940 on9/11. Unsure of how far i am. US yesterday showed no uterine sac,but fibourus cyst on ovary. Ovarian Ectopic or just too early for sac??

940 = early: If you don't know how far along you are, it is hard to determine what would be expected to be found on US. An Hcg level of 940 suggests that you are very early in the pregnancy. The best plan is to ask your OB - the one who knows your case well! - about your concerns and learn what they are thinking. Be sure to follow up as they recommend and contact them if you are having any pain or bleeding. ...Read more

I have a cyst and I'm 4 weeks pregnant my HCG level is 2400 but the doc doesn't see my babe what could b wrong?

I have a cyst and I'm 4 weeks pregnant my HCG level is 2400 but the doc doesn't see my babe what could b wrong?

Nothing likely: We don't usually see the baby until at least 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 weeks. In addition that cyst is probably your corpus luteum and it supplies the progesterone you need to stay pregnant until your placenta takes over production around 12 weeks.See if your Ob will repeat the hcg as it should continue to rise if this is a normal pregnancy. A repeat US in a couple weeks may be a good idea too. ...Read more
