Could be normal.: Not sure why you would have blood drawn 3 months after having normal labs in a young and healthy female? There may be more to the story.... ? These labs could be seen as part of a viral syndrome. May be best to repeat them at some point. ...Read more

Does high monocytes and low amount of WBC in blood test indicate infection? and what does high amorphous sediment in urine test mean?

Does high monocytes and low amount of WBC in blood test indicate infection? and what does high amorphous sediment in urine test mean?

These mean nothing: Only a very high absolutely monocyte count is of any concern if you feel well, and low WBC is of concern if and only if lymphs or neuts are way-way low. If you're sick, this whispers "rule out typhoid". Amorphous sediment is simply stuff that was soluble at body temperature but crystallized as the urine cooled. It means nothing at all. ...Read more

I'm wanting to know when some of your blood test are high what does it mean. WBC is 13.5 RDW is 15.9 NEUR is 8.9 ?

I'm wanting to know when some of your blood test are high what does it mean. WBC is 13.5 RDW is 15.9 NEUR is 8.9

?

CBC interpretation: WBC=white blood cell count, typically reported in mm3. Yours is 13,500. Normal is 4,500-10,800. Mild elevations can be due to infection, especially when mainly neutrophils, as seen in your CBC. RDW=red cell distribution width. It is a measurement of variation in RBC size. Normal is <14.5. RDW can be elevated for a variety of reasons. Usually represents an increase in early forms. Hope this helps! ...Read more

On a recent blood test my WBC was at 3.8X10E3/uL (Normal Range 4.0 to 11.0). All other tests (RBC,etc.) were witin the normal range. Is it serious?

No: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, a wbc count of 3.8 is not a reason to worry about, unless you get frequent infections. ...Read more

My mum age 70 had a blood test and the WBC is 22000. Please help?

Mum's right to know: Your mother is the one who needs to ask the physician for a diagnosis or the direction of the workup. If this is chronic lymphocytic leukemia, it is unlikely to have a serious impact on her health at least for many years. ...Read more

Took my weekly dose of methotrexate last night.went for my blood test today and WBC is high. I usually wait 3 days to test, could this cause high WBC?

Methotrexate: should not cause an elevation in your white blood cell count. If anything, it is more likely to cause a decrease. Blood work should always be interpreted within clinical context and with much more history. ...Read more

I have a 425 000 platelets count and 11.02 wbc result in my blood test...is it normal? thank you

A little high: although standards vary from lab to lab, the numbers you cite are a little above average in most labs. As in all lab results, yours should be closely correlated with your history and physical exam before drawing any specific conclusions. For example, simple dehydration can elevate both platelets and wbc. ...Read more

Can type 2 herpes affect other things in your standard blood test, like WBC or lymph node count or etc.

Slightly higher wbc everytime I have a blood test. 13-15, I now have a vit d difenecy and am take vit d otc. I have had proteinuria for 6 years?

More than one issue: Taking vitamin D is good, but it is likely unrelated to other issues. Your WBC count may be normal for you, if it is persistently high and you have no fever. Proteinuria is a cause for concern. You need to take it up with your doctor so that the cause may be determined and treatment will depend on the cause. ...Read more

Can someone tell me do I have problems wtih my blood test. Hb - 166, RBC - 5.75 , WBC - 8.0 hct - 0.516 PLT -218 i think this is low for plt? Age 20

Don't do this: You're almost a grown man. I'm going to assume that hemoglobin is 16.6 g/dl, hematocrit 51% platelets 218, 000 in the units that most of us use. There are fine. There's no need for you to obsess over labs like this. Relax, and be thankful for good health. ...Read more

These are normal: These values are in the normal range. You need to know more about what your complete blood counts(cbc) should be like, normally. This will include, hemoglobin or hb (do not worry about number of red cells(rbc) as this is reflected in your hb). Wbc is : white blood cells and platelets are the third element in the cbc. ...Read more

Nothing: There is likely nothing indicated by those numbers that needs further evaluation. Possibly if RDW elevated, could suggest iron deficiency, but need iron studies and rest of blood count numbers to know more. ...Read more

NRBC levels in recent blood test at 10/100 WBC. Follow up with Doc is later this week. Should I be concerned?

Need more info: Nucleated red cells in blood indicate vigorous red cell production, if this is the only finding on testing. If you had recent blood loss or started taking medication for anaemia, it would be a good sign. If NRBC are part of other changes in blood then it would need to be investigated. ...Read more
