Inflamed/infected: The tongue typically heals quickly due to the fact that it has a lot of blood flow to it. However, it is easy to keep hitting the same sore spot over and over. Repeated trauma to it (just like any other part of our body) may impede healing and cause inflammation, and possibly even infection (which looks red, swollen, and may or may not have pus coming out of it).

Muscle/joint pain: The temporomandibular joint is the jaw hinge joint. You might have traumatized it by chewing too much gum, grinding your teeth in your sleep, or clenching during the daytime. I suggest warm moist heat, anti- inflammatories like ibuprofen, soft diet, and give symptoms a few days to resolve. If no improvement, see doctor.

I am having a sharp pain on my left jaw, under the tongue and a sharp pain on my chest. What can be wrong with me and what can I do fast to relieve th?

Jaw and chest: What concerns me is the sharp pain in your chest! Especially when you're also having jaw pain. While it could be lot's of other things, it may indicate a cardiac condition or even a heart attack. Please see a 24/7 emergency medical facility immediately or call 911. I don't want to alarm you but it is always best to be safe rather than sorry. It may not be anything serious but you never know.

I got my tongue pierced. What can cause my tongue and face to be numb, my belly to hurt and my back to have sharp pain?

I got my tongue pierced. What can cause my tongue and face to be numb, my belly to hurt and my back to have sharp pain?

Not tongue piercing!: Your problems are not related to your piercing. Tongue and face numbness can be related to stroke, anxiety, migraines, brain tumors (rare!). Belly pain has at least 100 causes? Where? When? What does it feel like? How long does it last? What brings it on/stops it? Belly pain may or may not be related to back pain. There is no one diagnosis for all of these things. See your doctor!

So I have an issue. Some of the back teeth in my lower jaw on the left side hurts if I chew down on food or if I brush my tongue on it. It happens for a day, stops for a few weeks, then picks back up. It's not a sharp pain, more like a dull pinching pain.

Probably: Probably infected tooth/abscess. Could also be gum infection, fracture, broken filling, grinding or clenching, etc. Please see your Dentist before your chronic problem becomes acute/difficult/expensive. Don't wait for a tooth to blow, in the middle of the night, on a long holiday weekend. Call now.
