Likely a cyst: A cyst is a pore, or hair follicle unit that has become filled with sebum, thick skin oil. These are common and can run in certain families. Sometimes they are squeezed and a bad smelling cheesy like material comes out. Some people have more than one, and they can be found anywhere on the body. They can be removed by a dermatologist. ...Read more

Have it looked at: The most common thing it could be is a pilar cyst, a benign growth that can be removed if you wanted but is not harmful. However without seeing it, i could not say for sure. Have it looked at by a dermatologist. Piece of mind goes a long way. Good luck! ...Read more
Small 3/8" scab-lump on scalp won't heal. Been there over 6 months. Does not change in size or hurt. Just won't go away. Afraid its cancer?
Scalp lump: Most skin conditions like this should be evaluated by a physician. Hi past few weeks on back of my scalp i have a lump like a scab. Keep picking at it. So annoying. Has been bleeding. Have 2 of them
What should i do?
Quit picking: Unfortunately this may have become a "pickers" focus or habit for you and it will not heal if you continue to pick. Each time you do you give the area more trauma and a greater chance for germs to invade. Try to consciously avoid picking, or rub two fingers together when you get an urge and the thing will heal in a week or two. ...Read more

While : While it is possible it is a knot of healing bone (callus) from a small crack, you would likely have had more pain in the area from the injury. Oftentimes people will notice a lump after an injury draws attention to the area or will think of a recent injury to explain a lump. A hard, non-mobile lump should always be evaluated....And soon. It may be nothing, but it could point to a serious problem. Even if you're young, there are bony tumors that can occur. Benign lesions, like aneurysmal bone cysts, can be treated with good outcomes.
