My doctors do not regularly test blood unless absolutely necessary. Is there a good home pregnancy test I can use that would give me reliable results?

For sure: I admit I do not know what products are available in the UK, but in the US all drug stores carry good reliable home pregnancy tests. I'd be fairly certain this is true in the UK as well: I suggest go to a pharmacy and browse the shelves. Hope this helps. ...Read more

According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

Not sure if implantation blood or period so I took a home urine pregnancy test. Blood was in urine. It was negative. Accurate results or not?

Trust the test: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period. If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection. ...Read more

How do doctors do pregnancy test blood test or urine test which is more effective doctor test or home pregnancy test?

How do doctors do pregnancy test blood test or urine test which is more effective doctor test or home pregnancy test?

Blood test: Blood test is more sensitive, provides a number, is generally positive sooner than urine test and is generally more reliable. Urine test is cheaper, can be done at home without the need to go to a doctor and is positive 4-5 days after a missed period. Both test are accurate when positive. If embryo isn't connected to maternal blood supply until 7days post conception, this would mean hCG isn't yet produced for a urine pregnancy test?

If embryo isn't connected to maternal blood supply until 7days post conception, this would mean hCG isn't yet produced for a urine pregnancy test?

No: The embryo can produce HCG as early as 5 days post fertilization but the amounts are so small and the maternal-fetal blood connections are so minimal that not even a blood test can pick it up, let along a urine pg test that is not positive until your HCG levels are 20 iu/ml or more. You should, however, be able to pick up HCG in a blood test as early as day 9 post ovulation but the levels are low. ...Read more
