After hemorrhoid surgery approximately how long before bowel movements return to normal and what is the best diet for after surgery?

After hemorrhoid surgery approximately how long before bowel movements return to normal and what is the best diet for after surgery?

One of the major: Determinants is whether you have general anesthesia or not (anesthetics paralyze bowel) and how many narcotic pain killers you take afterward. Many doctors advise starting stool softeners/fiber supplements before surgery. Stay super well-hydrated. Prune or apple juice may be helpful; raw veggies, while good for fiber, may be painful to pass. Two weeks, 3 at outside, and all should be good:)

Weeks-months: Sometimes after a severe illness and/or operation, being easily tired out can happen long after your feeling better - some patients saying it took almost six months. It will come around however, so hang on there and try not to get too discouraged. I know it can be frustrating, but ou should be just fine. Best wishes.

My IUD moved through my wall&near my intestins &no other problems im peeing fine, normal bowel movements&how long with surgery&how long to recover?

My IUD moved through my wall&near my intestins &no other problems im peeing fine, normal bowel movements&how long with surgery&how long to recover?

Discuss with the Dr.: Your doctor would be the best person to answer these questions. It's hard to say what the details of your surgery would be, since different doctors may approach it differently. If the iud can be easily located and removed with small incisions, then one would expect the recovery to be fairly quick and simple. If the doctor has to do a bigger incision to get to the iud, then recovery may be longer.

35 weeks 4 days pregnant. Frequent bowel movements since yesterday. 3X loose a day. Is it normal? Why does it occur and how long will it occur?

35 weeks 4 days pregnant. Frequent bowel movements since yesterday. 3X loose a day. Is it normal? Why does it occur and how long will it occur?

Normal with preg: This is quite normal especially as your child grows. Diarrhea is common during pregnancy due to the shifting hormone levels and your child pressing down on the intestine. This prevents larger stools from forming and more liquid consistent stools to pass through your system. The diarrhea will likely be episodic in nature and the frequency might increase as you approach your delivery date.

GI and Diet eval: I recommend you get a thorough evaluation by a GI doctor (r/o ibs = irritable bowel syndrome, gluten intollerance, etc), then consider seeing someone to determine if you are having other food reactions. Be honest about all eating behaviors.

Don't eat lots but haven't had a bowel movement for almost 3 days now. Is this an issue? Can't be normal?

Constipation: While there can be a lot of variability on how frequent someone poops, at the 3 day mark, it sounds like you're constipated. You should focus on staying hydrated, increasing your fiber intake, keep active and consider an over the counter laxative like Senna. If you start developing abdominal pain and nausea/vomiting seek an urgent evaluation to make sure there is no obstruction going on.

I normally have a bowel movement once a week but I have not been for nearly 3 weeks, I don't have the urge to go either. What should I do?

Go to your Doctor: You very well may need to retrain your colon to empty it of the waste. This situation you describe is abnormal and in no way representative of good health. Your doctor may put you on a treatment or get you in to the gastroenterologist.

Probably normal.: Some people have bm only once or twice per week. If this has been your normal pattern and you have no real symptoms no one but your doc can tell you it is not normal. Note to self, do not ask strangers for medical advice.
