What is the main problem that makes a person get pcos? Is it preventable?

What is the main problem that makes a person get pcos? Is it preventable?

Overweight: The majority of people with pcos have pre-diabetes. People with pcos are at very high risk for diabetes. There is a genetic (family history) component to pcos and diabetes, but daily exercise, staying at a healthy weight and eating a healthy diet that is very low in saturated fat is vital. There are some (very few) pcos women who are thin and the disorder is purely genetic.

I HAVE PCOS AND WANT TO GET PREGNANT HOW CAN I DO THAT. I TAKE BC THAT CAN PREVENT ME FROM GETING PREGNANT. WHAT CAN I DO TO COME ON AND GET PREGNANT.

I HAVE PCOS AND WANT TO GET PREGNANT HOW CAN I DO THAT. I TAKE BC THAT CAN PREVENT ME FROM GETING PREGNANT. WHAT CAN I DO TO COME ON AND GET PREGNANT.

PCOS & pregnancy: PCOS can make it very difficult to get pregnant without the use of ovulation inducing drugs. Weight reduction and assessment for Diabetes also are important. Once the BC pill is stopped you may require a "jump start" of your period with progesterone. Talk to your OB-GYN MD and if needed see a Fertility specialist.

Been on birth control for a year to regulate my period and prevent pregnancy have been diagnosed with PCOS and now i barley get a period lasts 1-3 day?

PCOS: Oral bcp's are prescribed for PCOS because ovulation is infrequent and unpredictable, so fertile times are difficult to predict. If you stopped bcp's and your periods are short (1-3 days) you might not be ovulating. It is not always PCOS which causes this, and simple means to cause ovulation may help. Unless you are trying to become pregnant, bcp's are safe with PCOS for other reasons.

Hi im 21 year old girl my wight is 41 kg I have pcos problem. Please suggest me ofor regular periods?

Doctor: See your doctor, if you don't have one get a good obg. Pcos is fairly common and you can get good help to regulate periods, address symptoms, and when ttc - but there's no internet cure for you. Natural and otc products for pcos do not work, but a good doctor can help you alot working one-on-one. Good luck.

Can you get gall stones because of PCOS?

Can you get gall stones because of PCOS?

Not directly: PCOS does not directly cause gallstones but someone with PCOS could coincidentally also have gallstones. Both are fairly common medical issues. Risk factors for both include being female and struggling with weight.

Will pcos have any effect on ovaries in future? if any how to prevent it?

Will pcos have any effect on ovaries in future? if any how to prevent it?

Yes: Unfortunately, PCOS is very much an infiltrative disease of the ovary (e.g. imbalance of excess stroma when compared to other functional ovarian tissue). The condition has implications for other systems as well.

Will pcos have any effect on ovaries in future? if any how to prevent it?

Will pcos have any effect on ovaries in future? if any how to prevent it?

No, but...: PCOS should not have any long-term effect on the ovary, however there is an increased risk of endometrial cancer in women who have polycystic ovaries? This is due to the irregular menstrual cycle's and lack of progesterone exposure to the endometrial lining. That is why it is so important that women have regular cycles, and are often on birth control pills long term to give them exposure to progesterone and reduce their risk of endometrial cancer.

What cause of pcos? How to prevent it?

Probably cannot: Prevent it. Pcos has a genetic component, so it's partly inherited. About half or women with pcos will have some extra weight; these women can reduce the symptoms from pcos through weight-loss, exercise, and (possibly) low-glycemic index diet. However, 50% of pcos are thin and even skinny, so weight-loss doesn't apply to them.

How to prevent weight gain with pcos?

How to prevent weight gain with pcos?

Fitness: Please forgive my frankness. You know you don't lose or gain weight by magic. It's calories in versus calories out. Everything else is a distraction. Start exercising intensively. This will not only burn calories and improve your overall health. It will set your appetite to what it should be, and it will improve your PCOS. Take charge and manage this serious illness -- you're smart and strong.

I have polycystic ovaries and I am always bloated, no matter what I eat. What can I do to prevent this?

I have polycystic ovaries and I am always bloated, no matter what I eat. What can I do to prevent this?

Diet and exercise: Talk with your OBGYN. A gluten free and lactose free exclusion diet may help your symptoms that may or may not be related to PCOS. Spironolactone may help. Learn about and avoid insulin resistance and diabetes and get hormone levels checked. Don't worry you'll be okay. Good luck.

Can a women with pcos get pregnant while on the pill if she doesn't take it constantly?

Can a women with pcos get pregnant while on the pill if she doesn't take it constantly?

Yes: The circumstances you described could result in pregnancy if the woman has unprotected sex.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Saw new GYN. dx of pcos since 12. Dr said I don't have it since I still get period every month 25-40 day cycles even though I have most clinical sympt?

Hard to answer: 12 is usually too early to diagnose PCOS as most 12 year olds do not ovulate every month yet. PCOS is also something that people can grow out of on occasion. In order to diagnose PCOS a patient must have 2 out of the 3 following symptoms: irregular periods, signs of elevated testosterone (acne or hair growth) and polycystic ovaries on ultrasound.

I'm 27 years old married (2 year) girl. I m dignosed with pcos. I gained wait. 68 kg(5 ft 1 inch-hight). Can i get pregnant naturally?

Possibly: One of the more common symptoms of pcos is lack of ovulation. This lack of ovulation leads to the infertility problems. However, every now and then, but very unpredictable, an egg may mature and you ovulate. If this does happen, you can get pregnant "naturally". More often, though, is that you need treatment which may include things like weight loss and/or medications that promote ovulation.

I dont have pcos but I have another cyst or 2 (1mm) on my ovary w/in 6 months of my last cyst (2.5). How can i prevent while still trying to conceive.

I dont have pcos but I have another cyst or 2 (1mm) on my ovary w/in 6 months of my last cyst (2.5). How can i prevent while still trying to conceive.

Cysts vs follicles: Every month when you're ovulating you get 3-5 small cysts (follicles or egg cysts) on each ovary and usually 1 dominant cyst (follicle) that is usually 1.5-2.5 cm in size. Without these you don't ovulate and you can't concieve. Some radiologist will say follicular cysts and some just say cysts, which confuses patients. After you ovulate you may have a bigger cyst (corpus luteum).
