What Is The Main Cause Of Runners Collapsing During Marathon
Lack of training: Probably the lack of proper training. You should race the way you train. Biggest mistake is going out too fast. You often end up cramping later on. Also, dehydration, which can lead to cramping. You must learn to hydrate before running and during running. All in the training. ...Read more
Cause of AKI: Acute renal failure or acute kidney injury (AKI) can be due to several causes including severe dehydration, bleeding, intake of nephrotoxins (medications or chemicals), obstruction of urine flow from both kidneys (e.g. enlarged prostate, retroperitoneal fibrosis), acute inflammation of kidneys (i.e. glomerulonephritis), infection of the kidneys (i.e. pyelonephritis), and much more. ...Read more

Loss of (-) pressure: A collapsed/punctured lung is serious, as it can progress to tension pneumothorax. Once recognized, a chest tube is placed to release the pressure associated with collapsed lung. Any injury that allows positive pressure from the airways or externally into the negative pressured pleural space will start the lung collapsing. Trauma, needle sticks, rib fx, fluid, spontaneous are common causes. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
CT is higher: The risk from a ct guided lung biopsy is approximately 25%. Underlying emphysema would make a collapsed lung more likely. Biopsy of a mass resting against the chest wall would be less likely to cause collapse. I am not sure about the discrepancy between the two answers. I do ct guided lung biopsies all the time, and have the same collapse rates as other docs in my group. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Injury or luck: Ok, not really luck. Some people are prone to "spontaneous pneumothorax" where the lung collapses on its own. Other reasons include injury, infection. Treatment may include drainage with a tube or even surgery. Treatment options depend on cause, patient symptoms and conditions. It's empty: The gallbladder largely functions as a bag that concentrates bile made in the liver. Between meals, bile flows from the liver into the bile duct, and it is "sucked" into the gallbladder where it is concentrated between 8-20 x. When you eat, various stimuli including cck release stimulate gallbladder contaction, and the concentrated bile is then emptied into the small intestine to mix with food. ...Read more
Varies...: Most commonly it is from either trauma that can result in increased pressures in the chest or rib fractures that tear the lung. The other common source is bleb or bullous disease of the lung. Imagine an overinflated balloon ready to pop. Something causes it to have increased pressure and air then leaks out to cause the lung to collapse. Other reasons can include cancer and bad emphysema. ...Read more
Probably not: If by lung collapse you mean a pneumothorax, or air around the lung in the chest cavity, that is usually due to a genetic predisposition, smoking, trauma or sometimes vigorous exercise, to name a few. Another type of lung collapse involves thick mucus that blocks air entry to the rest of the lung, but that only happens in very debilitated patients with advanced lung disease. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Control allergy Sx's: A spontaneous pneumothorax is most common in tall, lanky men in the their late teens who have a "bleb" or "blebs" on their lung tissue. Relating to severe allergy symptoms, the most reasonable scenario in my mind is that sneezing was performed with such intensity that the interthoracic pressures go up precipitously leading to a popped bleb after sneezing and another big drop in chest pressure . ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
