Yes !!!: Lung cancer is curable when found early. There are two broad categories of lung cancer; small cell and non small cell. Adenocarcinoma is the most common form of non smal cell lung cancer. Deoxygenated blood enters the lungs from the right side of the heart and travels to the lungs. When you inspire, oxygen flows into the lungs, transverses the capilliares and attaches to hemoglobin down a gradient. At the same time, co2 diffuses into the capilaries and is expelled with exhalation. Oxygen rich blood then flows to the left side of the heart and into the ...Read more
Rare: While some very rare genetic syndromes may increase the risk of developing long cancer, the vast majority of lung cancers occur in people without genetic cancer syndromes. What is life expectancy of 49 yr old male with stage IV adenocarcinoma of lung? Receive chemo/avastin radiation last CT showed significant progression
Hard to say: Predicting how long someone will live with stage IV lung cancer is always difficult. You said that your disease had progressed. I assume that is on a pet/ct scan. It would depend on how much it's progressed. Unfortunately it may be as little as 8 mos. Or less. It depends on any underlying conditions conditions such as copd. I would strongly advise you to discuss this with your oncologist. ...Read more
What is the life expectancy for a 42 yr old man with stage 4 signer ring cell with metastasis of the lung and how and with what would you treat him?
Check EGFR and ALK: Very important to check for egfr mutations and alk re-arrangements, since there are medications that are very effective to treat cancers that are positive for these mutations. As far as prognosis, a 42 year old tends to have a better prognosis than the average patient and in patients with egfr mutations or alk it goes up to 24 to 30 months or more. Please discuss this with your med onc. Best, arie. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

My mum 67 was diagnosed with metastatic caecal adenocarcinoma, aggressive, stage 4. She started folfox. Can it be cured? Life expectancy?
Serious diagnosis: Stage 4 colon cancer has a very poor prognosis. No one can give you a life expectancy that is exact. It depends upon her response to the treatment. Some people respond very well. I hope she responds well to the treatments. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
