What is the difference between Plan B and the pill for abortion?

What is the difference between Plan B and the pill for abortion?

Two different things: Plan b is a high Progesterone pill whereas the "abortion pill" (mifepristone) is a Progesterone blocker. Plan b delays ovulation, so no abortion occurs, whereas Mifepristone acts on the already fertilized egg. If i have been taking the pill regularly for the past two months, will it make a difference whether or not i take plan b?

If i have been taking the pill regularly for the past two months, will it make a difference whether or not i take plan b?

It depends.: when during the pill cycle you take the hormonal Plan B EC. It is a progestin hormone, levonorgestrel which prevents ovulation and changes the lining of the uterus and cervical mucous to prevent fertilization and implantation. If you are already pregnant, it will not be effective. It probably also depends on the type of pill. Condoms as backups also decrease STD's. If >2 pills missed, good idea. ...Read more

Is Plan B the abortion pill?

Is Plan B the abortion pill?

Depends: Plan b prevents implantation of a fertilized egg so that it passes without development, as do 80% of all fertilized eggs naturally. So it is not really an abortion. Note that evangelicals consider life to begin at conception - so who is the responsible party for those 80% spontaneously passed. Mormons believe that life begins at implantations so they support stem cell research. ...Read more

Had a medical abortion 2 month ago, 1 month ago condom broke so took a Plan B pill, got period this morning but the pain was worse than usual?

It's OK.: You've been through a lot these past few months. Having a painful period is nothing to worry about. You can use heat, exercise, decrease caffeine/sugar. Over the counter meds like ibuprofen, midol or pamprin will often give relief. And, with both of those events so recently, i'd strongly recommend getting on birth control. ...Read more

I had a surgical abortion yesterday morning. Had sex last nite. I took the plan b pill within 5 hours. How likely is it that I could get pregnant?

I had a surgical abortion yesterday morning. Had sex last nite. I took the plan b pill within 5 hours. How likely is it that I could get pregnant?

Technically speaking: you may still be pregnant as the pregnancy hormone is probably still in your blood. the pregnancy produces this hormone and it is very unlikely that you will ovulate or conceive with this hormone in your system. that being said it was not a great idea to have sex the day after a surgical abortion. Let your surgeon know especially if you have foul discharge, pain or fever. Good luck. ...Read more
