Low potassium and Ca: Your low level of potassium (K) can be due to lack of K ingestion, diuretic losses, magnesium (M) deficit, GI losses, distal renal tubular acidosis and high aldosterone levels, among others. Your low calcium (C), could be due to hypoparathyroidism or a low M, among others. What causes a low blood calcium level? Mine is 8.5 and I already take potassium and magnesium. Do they have anything to do with it? Vit d 57.6

A calcium of: 8.5 is still normal. The calcium level is "total" calcium, of which 1/2 is bound to proteins. Have your doctor check your "ionized calcium" which is a much more accurate determination of whether your calcium is low or not. Low parathyroid hormone can cause low calcium, as can certain kidney diseases, and other problems. Make sure you are on calcium and d. Your d level is already ok. Check w/docto. ...Read more

Random twitching, water drop, crawling skin sensation, took V B complex shots I take potassium, magnesium, calcium test fine. Dr said relaxed nerves?

Twitching?: MikeB ~ one of the great urban myths of Medicine is that Bco shots "relaxes the nerves". It does not. If you have normal Vit B2, B6 and B12 levels B Co IM does nothing. No harm done. It is water soluble. The body takes what it needs and the rest is readily excreted in the urine. Are you using any other drugs? Recreational? Consider seeing Neuro. Thx ...Read more

Is it possible that a person, who did not eat anything for 3 days and only drinking distilled water, have perfectly balanced sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium in her lab?

Yes: The kidney is very smart and will conserve electrolytes in the setting of a lack of intake. If you are well nourished and have no electrolyte issues prior to drinking distilled water the labs should be ok. It just gives an appreciation for how sophisticated the body is.

I did potassium/calcium serum test and was wondering if they could indicate magnesium deficiency, there's no option but MG serum/urine and it's not accurate as I know. What you Drs think?

Nobody knows: Magnesium is by far our least-understood major ion as it's almost entirely intracellular and nobody knows how to test for it. What I do know is that all the "pop" claims are subscientific. You're 19 years old, Adam, at your prime both in terms of athletic and learning capacity.
