Possibly: Success of colonoscopy often related to degree of sedation for procedure. Also related to experience of colonoscopist . Flexible colonoscope usually employed to go around curves. Noninvasive virtual colonoscopy using ct and MRI but does not allow for therapeutic maneuvers such as polyp/tumour removal or biopsy nor visualization of lesions smaller than 5 millimeters. ...Read more

Rectal sweating for 1yr. Be ts confirms

a helminthic condition?

Do you mean mucous?: Anal discharge is most likely proctitis, seborrhea or anal fissure. Have you been cleared of std? Helminthic infections usually do not have rectal discharge. A stool test for ova and parasites and blood work could rule out a parasitic infestation. Colonoscopy may well have identified them as well. ...Read more

Colonoscopy showed erythematous mucosa in sigmoid colon. Dr said it is probably from C.diff which I had about 5 months earlier. Should I be worried?

Colonoscopy showed erythematous mucosa in sigmoid colon. Dr said it is probably from C.diff which I had about 5 months earlier. Should I be worried?

Any symptoms?: Do not be concerned about the finding you mentioned. If you do not have any symptoms, let it be. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. ...Read more

Had a colonoscopy 6 months ago pain in transcending and sigmoid and anal and rectum. Ct showed Diverticulosis. I also have a high ch50. Infection?

Had a colonoscopy 6 months ago pain in transcending and sigmoid and anal and rectum. Ct showed Diverticulosis. I also have a high ch50. Infection?

Can't be sure: Diverticulosis does not cause pain, but diverticulitis would (leaking of intestinal content internally). High CH50 means that the "classic and terminal" features of the complement system (innate arm of the immune system) are working beautifully. Low CH50 might be noteworthy, but usually this only occurs when the system needs to be replenished after an illness. Need much more info to address pain. ...Read more

I had a colonoscopy last week. They found erythematous mucosa in the sigmoid and several areas of raised inflammation in ileum. What could cause that?

Might: Not be anything or it could represent inflammatory bowel disease such as crohn's. They should have done biopsies so the path reports should provide more information allowing proper therapy to be initiated if necessary. ...Read more

Doc could not complete colonoscopy due to severe angulation in sigmoid and thickened colon had anesthesia. Any future problem? What next?

Sounds complicated: Given your history, it sounds very complicated! recovering from a perforated colon, a colonoscopy is good to help get answers. There are very advanced docs who do colonoscopies with special equipment. It might be worth getting a referral to someone with more specialized training and tools who can try to navigate. ...Read more

Is this UC? Colonoscopy report: PR normal. Granular mucosa in the rectum & sigmoid (reduced vascular pattern). Subtle rectal & sigmoid inflammation.

Biopsy will show: Diagnosis of Ulcerative colitis is complex and has to be verified by the biopsy findings (your dr most likely had taken multiple biopsies from different parts of the colon and sent them to the pathologist for examination) ...Read more

Sigmoid mass palpable every morning. The physician told me no need to make a colonoscopy cause i am young and this mass could be stool. Is that right?

How do: you know the mass is related to the sigmoid? There are other potential causes of intraabdominal masses....a sigmoid mass would have to be very large to be palpated. If further work up is warranted, a CT scan may be the next imaging step. Whatever your age, a palpable mass needs to be evaluated. ...Read more
