Possible to have "weak" blood vessels? Sometimes after working out I get a bad bruise on leg which fades to a little knot before slowly going away.

Likely Hematoma: You may be working out too hard and rupturing your blood vessels into the exercised muscles. Take it easier, and build up to heavy reps rather than jumping right in. Now, it is possible that your vessels break easily (are "weak"), or your blood is "thin" (you don't clot normally). Avoid aspirin, Ibuprofen and anti-inflammatories (unless you get a hematoma, when they are helpful); try vitamin c. ...Read more

Is there any vitamin complex that can help to recover weak blood vessels in nose?

No: Unsure what you mean by "weak blood vessels" but I will assume you have had bloody noses with minimal or no trauma. There are vascular complexes in the nasal septum that are subject to easy injury, especially if the weather is dry or you have allergies. Make sure your environment is humidified and that your blood pressure is OK. Some bleeding disorders (and meds like aspirin) can worsen it. ...Read more

When I bend my head forward I get dizzy or side to side MRI was fine, could it be blood vessels? I start p.t. for vesbular therapy on neck tomorrow.

Could be.: Not as likely in your age. Vertebral artery narrowing can cause dizziness. These vessels can be damaged in neck trauma. If you have had no recent accidents then they are probably ok. These vessels can become narrow when people are 50 or older. If therapy does not work, ask your doctor to check the blood vessels in your head and neck. ...Read more

I have a blood clot sitting at saphenous junction and my dr. Chose not to medicate as I am nursing. I recently had laser therapy on my vericose veins?

Needs to be watched.: There is a term called heat induced thrombosis which is a clot that forms at the saphenofemoral junction following laser ablation. This usually occurs within 1 week of the procedure and should spontaneously resolve within 3 weeks of the lasering. If the clot is of a certain size or doesn't resolve in this time period, it may require blood thinners. You at least need follow up ultrasounds. ...Read more

What are the best rejuvenation skin care treatments for spider veins? I have noticeable spider veins on my legs and would feel more comfortable wearing summer clothes if I could get rid of them. Do rejuvenation skin care treatments like microdermabrasion

Spider: Spider veins are visible veins in the skin, most often occuring on the legs. What are termed "spider veins" are usually flat red or blue fine lines. However, these can bulge above the skin and can cause pain, itching or bleeding, but most are cosmetic concerns. Skin treatments alone are usually not effective for spider vein removal and potentially could make them slightly worse if the skin is injured or traumatized. Depending on the size of the spider veins these can be very effectively treated with injections (medium and small veins) or with laser (small veins). Once veins are treated they go away, but new ones can form over time. Bruising and discoloration are common after any vein treatment, and are worse for larger veins. I would suggest that any procedures done for spider veins be done several months before you want to wear summer clothes! ...Read more

Which treatment is best for varicose veins besides surgery?

It depends on...: Etiology, location and anatomy. I agree with dr. Pak's answer, but the mainstay of definitive treatment of lower extremity varicosities is currently endovenous ablation to treat an underlying source of reflux when identified. This can be followed by ambulatory phlebectomy/sclerotherapy to treat remaining varicosities. Ultrasound evaluation needs to be performed early: don't wait for skin changes! ...Read more

There is no cure: I completely agree with dr. Rosen. It is important to remember, though, treatment makes veins go away. However, there is no guarantee that you won't get more veins in the future. Varicose veins and spider veins occur primarily because of genetics and no one can change that. That means that you have a tendency toward developing bad veins and you will always have that tendency. ...Read more

I had Lasik surgery in 2014 and now I notice more broken blood vessels. Even with visine, can't get the whites really "white"...any advice?

Don't use Visine: It doesn't do anything to solve the underlying problem. Start with pure lubricating drops at least 4x/day, ie artificial tears. Avoid anything with "redness reliever" and "itching reliever". Avoid rubbing your eyes also, but keeping them lubricated is key. Follow up with your eye surgeon if you still have concerns. Black and blue.: If a vein is damaged from trauma, usually you will see discoloration of the skin either immediately after the injury or several days later.
