Can allergies cause throat tightness and if so what treatments would you recommend. I had a blood test done and have a high reaction to trees?
See allergist: I think you need to see an allergist to find out the cause of your throat tightness and the appropriate treatment required. Certainly allergy can cause throat swelling (which can be life-threatening) but it is impossible to tell if that's your problem. Possibly: Tinnitus & throat tightness may have common cause involving the eustacian tube (connects middle ear to the throat). It functions as a drain & pressure equalizer for the middle ear. Vocal cord dys.: This is also called paradoxical vocal fold motion abnormality. It often is treated with speech/voice therapy. Another co-factor to treat with this problem can be LPR-laryngopharyngeal reflux. Acid/stomach enzymes can get into the esophagus and larynx triggering throat tightness, throat clearing and VCD.
