Jaw growth: At age 17 most jaw growth has been completed. However there are many solutions available, most including both tooth repositioning (orthodontics) and jaw repositioning (surgery). Start with a fully qualified specialist Orthodontist for a free initial examination to know what options are available to you.

What can be done regarding a little bit small lower jaw?

What can be done regarding a little bit small lower jaw?

Surgery: At your age, surgery can improve a deficient jaw line. By "a little bit" smaller, I suspect you are talking about the chin. See an oral surgeon to talk about chin augmentation. There are a number of procedures that can be done.

Will a slight overbite mean you have a small upper jaw (maxilla), and small lower jaw (mandible)?

Will a slight overbite mean you have a small upper jaw (maxilla), and small lower jaw (mandible)?

It's the opposite!: A slight overbite refers to a slightly more protruded (larger) upper jaw and a smaller lower jaw. A smaller upper jaw compared to the lower jaw is referred to as an underbite.

First: First of all let me say that "jagged" teeth are not usually the result of soda drinking. It sounds as though this is occurring on both upper and lower teeth and may be the result of a grinding habit. Any of the methods you mentioned may be the correct one depending on the damage done, but more important is the possible need for a bite guard appliance after the fix to prevent it from happening again.

Pain in ear while swallowing, jaw appears to be 'locked.' what is the best treatment for this?

Jaw Joint pain: Clicking, popping and jaw locking are common signs of temporal mandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction. It is to only one in the body that actually disarticulates it also works in tandem with the opposite side tmj. The anatomy includes a cartilage disc, between the head of the jaw and the base of the skull. The disc and its ligaments get damaged in life and locks up the movement. See a TMJ dds/dmd.

I have a small bump inside my right lower jaw. What could it be?

I have a small bump inside my right lower jaw. What could it be?

Must be examined: A bump where you have indicated could be a multitude of things. In adults it is very common to have benign outgrowths of bone called exostoses and are harmless. A bump could be a sign of an infection of either the bone or a tooth. A visual examination, perhaps followed by x-ray imaging will allow the dentist to make a detailed differential diagnosis. Good luck!

Access in jaw: You dentist is the only one who can answer this question. My guess is he wanted to reduce infection before next step of taking out tooth.

What can de done for an overbite and also my lower jaw is smaller horizontally than my upper jaw? Had braces...Have been told have a small jaw?

Possible surgery: Your description of having a jaw size discrepancy between your upper jaw and lower jaw with a bite problem suggests you have a skeletal malocclusion. If you have already had braces, you may need to have another evaluation with an orthodontist or oral surgeon to determine if your concerns can be corrected with orthodontics alone or if surgery may also be indicated to align the jaws.
