Treatment for slurred speech my sister forget her medicine for 2ds pressure went so high cause a slurred speech she is on medication but will go away?
May be a stroke: The "so high" blood pressure may have caused a stroke involving one of the speech centers in the brain. If this is new, recommend going to the hospital right away. If it happened a while ago, it may go away, especially with speech and rehabilitative therapy.
Uncover cause: Likely best to see a neurologist. There are multiple problems which can cause this, and treatment follows diagnosis.See 1 more doctor answer
Rest is best: Most of the time, the symptoms will go away over time. Sometimes, it does take a few weeks to get back to normal. Most physicians will recommend physical and intellectual rest, meaning to stay out of work, school, and abstaining from any activities for a few days at least. If you have any other concerning symptoms or things aren't getting better, please see your physician. Best of luck to you!
Having slurred speech and pressure in left temple daily. Is there a treatment. Currently taking 3 100mg of zonisamide daily. Not helping.?
Tell your doctor: Please let the doctor who prescribed this know what is happening. That's the only way that adjustments can be made in treatment. I'm sure you appreciate that symptoms involving your brain and mot good to ignore or give time. It is also important w/ BP issues and diabetes to check for risks of stroke. Make an appointment asap. Take care of yourself - best wishes!
What treatments are used for severe cases of auto immune disease? My mom can't walk, has slurred speech, neck pain, etc. Help!
New symptoms??: A person who walked and talked yesterday, and awakens today with slurred speech and the inability to walk, is having a brain problem such as a stroke. The person should ride the ambulance to the emergency room for treatment. She can bring all her medications, and her regular doctor (s) can be notified, after 911 is called. Don't worry if it turns out not to be a stroke; it's best to be safe.
20yrs. C5-6 her disc. When I exercise feel weak. Barely move. Get tired. Slurred speech. Stops in 20 mins. Sometimes hard 2 move neck. Tried therapy.?
Disc problem.: The problems you're describing seems to come from some dysfunction of your nervous system possibly involving the nerves. I recommend you see a neurologist soon, l can also refer you to one within our system. Best of Luck.
Cn meningitis cause slurred speech, stiffness in leg n arm, bowel incontinence, poor recognition power all together? Hw long it takes to cure fully?
Yes: Blockage of the carotid artery can cause transient episodes of slurred or garbled speech. These are called transient ischemic attacks or tias. Tias put the patient at a high risk of having a stroke and so evaluation is warranted.
Unlikely: If it is not a repetitive problem, it is unlikely to be related to lupus.
No: But it can cause sedation and under those circumstances there would be slurred speech.
Absolutely: And that is a big concern. A stroke could cause that as could a TIA (transient ischemic attack) r a basilar migraine. A headache with associated slurred speech is a red flag and it is best you be seen as soon as possible. The most benign possibility is a hangover, and even then I would suggest an evaluation.
Common symptom: Slurred speech is a common symptom after sustaining a concussion, along with headaches, confusion, ringing in the ears, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, etc. I do hope you have been seen for this condition to make sure everything seems to be getting better. Rest is very important, both physically and intellectually (meaning not returning to school or work for several days in most cases).
Universal suspect: Anxiety is a prime suspect for almost all symptoms - especially the "soft" ones w/out known lab tests or imaging. And, certainly - thinking about it makes it worse. In fact, you have a great Dx Tool here! If the symptom can change based on distraction or focus - it's probably anxiety. Fractures, tumors, poisons, viruses, etc. Do not come or go in response to a phone call, great song, annoying chatSee 3 more doctor answers
