My doctor diagnosed me with ear drum rupture. Just checking - what's the best treatment.?

Ruptured ear drum: It all depends on what caused it. If infection, may need an antibiotic if not draining well. If traumatic, should heal in 24 hours or so. If from a loud explosion, need to monitor your neuro exam.

My 2 yr old woke up and has swollen, red, warm upper ear lobes. Doesn't seem to hurt. Any ideas on a cause and a treatment?

Possibly allergy: Since the redness and swelling involve both ear lobes, infection or cellulitis is less likely, unless there is reason to think otherwise. Allergy, possibly to something he consumed before going to bed or bug bites may cause such a reaction. If there are no bumps, and remains non tender without any systemic symptoms, I would try OTC anti allergy medicine and observe.

My 18 months old daughter has painful tender red swelling behind her rt ear lobe. Kindly tell me causes n treatment?

Likely infected: This could be a simple skin infection or an inflamed lymph node. In either case, an evaluation may be needed. In the short term you can apply moist heat to the area in the form of a heated compress several times a day. If it is a minor issue the body may heal itself. If it worsens it will need to be seen.

Insect bite: It is possible it is due to an insect bite, it would be wise to check the entire body for similar lesions. Consider possible " bed bug bite" You my use hydrocortisone, but visit your pediatrician.

I have a ringing in ear and red ear wax. Help please can't afford to see a doctor?

I have a ringing in ear and red ear wax. Help please can't afford to see a doctor?

Try hydrogen peroxid: It is possible that impacted ear wax can cause blockage of the ear canal and occasionally tinnitus (ringing). If you can not afford to see a doctor, which, is truly the best thing you could do, then try 3% hydrogen peroxide 4 times a day for 7 days in the ear canal. This treatment should liquefy the wax and then gentle irrigation with warm water should help. Try emergency room doctor.

Is a red ear an indication of an ear infection?

Is a red ear an indication of an ear infection?

Where's the red?: The majority of ear infections children get will involve the middle ear. A doctor has to use an otoscope to diagnose them. The ear drum will be red and bulging with fluid behind it. The ear canal can also become infected, but still requires an otoscope to view. The ear lobe and auricle or visualised outside ear being red usually has nothing to do with the common ear infections seen in children.

Red ear syndrome and Relapsing polychondritis differences?

Red ear syndrome and Relapsing polychondritis differences?

Multiple: Red ear syndrome involves pain and redness in around the ear. Relapsing polychondritis involves cartilage of multiple sites. The red ear syndrome involves most time a trigger of movement of the ear, the other is an auto immune problem attacking multiple cartilages.

My 2 year old son has intermittent bilateral bright red ear lobes that are very hot to the touch. Should I be concerned? A neighbor suggested htn?

My 2 year old son has intermittent bilateral bright red ear lobes that are very hot to the touch. Should I be concerned? A neighbor suggested htn?

Vasodilation: I do not know of any correlation between bright red ear lobes and hypertension. It sounds like he is having a transient vasodilation involving his ears lobes (blood flow gets increased to this area). If he really has no other symptoms, I would not be too concerned about it at this point.
