Chikungunya: I don't know if you would have the appropriate exposure history - but chikunguyna comes to mind. It's possible to get infected with this by a mosquito - then have prolonged joint/bone pains. Best to see a doctor about this... http://www.cdc.gov/chikungunya/symptoms/index.html ...Read more

Is chronically borderline low wbc concerning? Most recently 4.3 w/ reference range 3.4-10.8. All differentials in range. Indicate immune suppression?

Individual Normals: Individuals tend to be consistent for many such variables over time, though disease or other change in health can alter them. normal ranges are designed to include only 95% of people who are healthy. Being consistently on the low end or even just below the range. While some "normal" values may indeed indicate disease for that person, it is more common for normal people to fall just outside normal. ...Read more

Has abscess on butt for first time. On remicade for uc (3 infusions so far). Is this due to dormant infection exploding from immune suppression?

Yes, partly: Infliximab lowers your ability to fight infection. You should be very careful about keeping your body clean-more than usual. The abscess should be opened to help it heal. Tell the doc who rx'd Infliximab about the abscess before you get your next dose. If other abscesses develope, you may have to stop the drug. ...Read more

Check with doctor: Each immunosuppressive drug has its own drug interaction profile and thus you will need to check with your doctor re. such interaction. I am more concerned about doxycycline slowing down the breakdown of the immunosuppressive agent than vice versa. ...Read more
