Is doxycycline one of the better antibiotics for a sinus infection? If so, what is the optimal dose?
Not particularly: Usual dose 100 mg q12 Hrs. Anti=against, bio=life; all antibiotics are poisons, selected single molecules that (hopefully) don't bother our cells much, yet suppress/kill growth of unwanted cells in locations which create trouble for us after primary immune system not doing its job well. Azithromycin, up to 2,000 mg day 1, single dose, usually more effective, yet always depends on what's going on. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

See your doctor if the fever is >101 for more than 2-3 days, your child is vomiting or having excessive diarrhea, a severe cough, or looking sicker. ...Read more

See previous answer.: The real concern should be for the effective treatment of the infection not for the route of administration. You are more likely to have adverse events with 21 "deep into large muscle mass" injections than from a PICC line.
