Clear anal mucus discharge 2X a week, with or without a bowel movement. No pain. Had a normal colonoscopy 2 years ago. Any suggestions?

Many causes: This is generally due to normal mucous production which is abnormally expressed (poor sphincter tone, anal blockage) vs abnormal mucous production due to infection or inflammation. Intermittent nature (2X a week) is reassuring. Presume no blood. Would probably at least do flexible sigmoidoscopy even though colonoscopy only 2 years ago. See your provider when able. ...Read more

My anus itches. I have anal mucus. I get nauseous twice a week. My feces are inconsistent shapes. My weight is fluctuations rapidly. Acid reflux?

Proctocolitis?: Acid reflux has nothing to do with this. Sounds like rectal or colon inflammation (proctocolitis). Maybe worse-than-usual irritable bowel syndrome, but it's also possible you have inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis), celiac disease, or other serious intestinal problem. If you're gay and have had anal sex, STDs are possible. See your doctor or a gastroenterologist soon. ...Read more

Large amounts of mucus when having a bowel movement can be attributed to a few causitive factors:

2. Onset or manifestation of irritable bowel syndrome, crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. These conditions are diagnosed by a doctor and require treatment.
3. Proctitis, inflammation of the anus as a result of infection or medical treatment such as radiation.

Can too much castor oil cause anal mucus discharge? The first 36 hours it was a yellowish color with a little diarrhea, after which, it turned black.

Yes...: Castor oil has stimulant laxative properties causing forceful contractions of the intestine and violent diarrhea. The intestine contains cells that secrete mucous providing a lubricant function. I suspect the castor oil has led to a overproduction of mucous which you are seeing in the anal discharge. If your stool is black - seek medical attention to rule out bleeding from the GI tract. ...Read more

Why am I had a mucus discharge coming from my anus?

Anal leakage: Processes that interrupt the integrity of the sphincter muscle or the hemorrhoid columns can produce anal leakage. For example, stretching of the sphincter muscle, a flareup of hemorrhoids, mucosal prolapse, or an abnormal connection called a fistula can all produce what would be termed anal leakage.
