Surgeon preference: Adenoids may cause recurrent infection or nasal obstruction. Medications have limits. The traditional way of removing adenoids was with a curette - scraping them. More recently there are newer methods which reduce blood loss and operative time. The adenoid is the lymphoid tissue in the back of your nose and rarely even when infected produces pain. I do not doubt that this is possible but usually inflammation of the adenoid leads to either sinusitis, ear infection or a pussy discharge from the nose. Unlikely the adenoid: It is unusual for adenoids to cause hearing loss unless it is obstructing the eustachian tube and causing fluid in the ears. In that case the hearing loss is only as temporary as the fluid. ...Read more

Since your child noted a resolution of the snoring it seems like now there are a few options.
