At 7:00am I take plavix (clopidogrel) 75-aspirin 161-cardizem-120. Would it be ok to take the aspirin at a different time of day?
Is it ok to take plavix (clopidogrel) and chantix at the same time want to quit smoking but need to know if it is safe to tak chantix and plavix (clopidogrel) at the same time
Should be safe: There are no reported interactions between Plavix (clopidogrel) and chantix, but there are potential interactions between Plavix (clopidogrel) and tobacco, so that if you discontinue tobacco, it may effect the metabolism of the Plavix (clopidogrel) and clotting. Talk to your doctor. If you are on plavix, (clopidogrel) smoking will aggravate all of the clotting/bleeding problems, so good for you for wanting to quit. Stick with it, and good luck!See 1 more doctor answer
My mom ran out of plavix (clopidogrel) and hasn't taken it for 4 days. Her neurologist told her to take 4 at one time to make up for it is this safe?
Unknown: The effects of Plavix (clopidogrel) on blood clotting are present for up to a week. The usual recommendation is to resume the usual Plavix (clopidogrel) dose if dosing has been interrupted for any reason such as surgery or unavailability of the medication. Additional doses are most likely not more beneficial.See 2 more doctor answers
Can you take lovenox, (enoxaparin) plavix & cumadin at the same time. (older patient with heart history?
Blood thinners: Lovenox and Coumadin (warfarin) are started together but once Coumadin (warfarin) is therapeutic, Lovenox is stopped. Plavix can be taken with Coumadin (warfarin) or combo of lovenox/coumadin. The risk of bleeding and the use of different anticoagulants and anti platelet drugs should be carefully decided by the physicians and is done on a case by case basis.See 1 more doctor answer

I started taking Plavix once a day and I also take Prevacid (lansoprazole) and on occasion Prilosec. Is there any interactions with these drugs?
Absolutely: There is a well know interaction between plavix and proton pump inhibitors. Plavix is a prodrug (inactive) and is activated in the liver. This process of activation is blocked by proton oump inhibitors. Specifically with nexium and prilosec, also somewhat with other ppis. The only one safe to use is dexilant (dexlansoprazole) and possibly protonix. Or change plavix to effient or brilinta under guidance of MD
Is it safe to take 1-3gr of fish oil per day with plavix (clopidogrel)? I've been reading conflicting advice on other sites. Thanks!
Yes: It's safe with these warnings: both drugs can increase your risk of abnormal bleeding. Recent studies have failed to show benefit from fish oil for coronary disease. That said, the 2 drugs have been used together by millions of people over many years.
Hello, is it alright to take plavix (clopidogrel) every other day or half pill daily, if it is the only way to reduce bruises that appear on skin? Thank you!
Plavix (clopidogrel): No. It should be every day. There are blood tests now to evaluate the efficacy due to genetic variances and drug interactions. Avoid Aspirin and non steroidal agents with this if possible.
I am on haemodialysis since 5 years. Is it ok to take plavix (clopidogrel) with aspirin for my case? Even at dialysis day? Thanks
I had 3 stents in after having 2 heart attacks in 5 day period. Was put on plavix (clopidogrel) and some other meds but can not afford to take them. No insurance.
Don't stop: If you stop the Plavix (clopidogrel) too early it could cause a blood clot and a major heart attack. Hopefully the doctors know about your insurance situation and gave you the noncoated stents that only need 1 month of Plavix (clopidogrel) rather than a year. The doctor or hospital social worker should be able to help find you some free samples of Plavix (clopidogrel) or a related pill.See 1 more doctor answer
Did my mother overdose on plavix (clopidogrel)? My mother who has alzheimer's, took a second dose of plavix (clopidogrel), after having forgotten that I had already given her her meds. She takes 75 mg of plavix (clopidogrel) a day and took 150 mg today
It: It is unlikely that she will have any ill effects after taking an additional dose. You should contact her doctor to see if they want you to skip the dose for the next day. But I don't suspect that she will have any problem from that. If she had any bleeding or bruising, notify your doctor.
Husband seeing bright red blood and some clots after colon polyp removal today. He takes Plavix (clopidogrel) every day, but stopped taking it 4 days ago.?
Very concerning: You need to call his endoscopist immediately or if unable to reach go to the nearest hospital ER ASAP!! He should not have restarted the Plavix (clopidogrel) yet. You must talk to the doctor who performed the procedure today!!!!
On lansoprazole for a year 15mg a day for Diverticulitis and for risk bleeding on Plavix I See Lansoprazole can decrease my magnesium. So on my medication, especially Ramipril can I take magnesium supplements as there is moderate risk of hyperkalemia?
You need levels: Before you assume that a possible side effect of a medication is going to happen to you you need to know for sure. Too much magnesium, potassium or calcium can be as bad as too little. A simple blood test looking at your magnesium and electrolytes will answer that question, and then you have information to tailor what if any supplements to take
On lansoprazole for a year 15mg a day for Diverticulitis and for risk bleeding on Plavix I See Lansoprazole can decrease my magnesium also have Pernicious anemia so B12 injections every 2 mths GP said I cant take magnesium supplement with Amlodipine?
Magnesium: There are reports that magnesium supplements may make the blood pressure (BP) drop further in patients taking amlodipine for high BP. For personal advice regarding the interactions in your complex medication regimen, you may want to consult your doctor or have an Inbox consult on healthtap where you and the MD can email back and forth to cover all the issues.See 1 more doctor answer
Can one take Aspiring if he/she has erosive gastritis? Have been taking Plavix for Xience V stent for 7 months now, constant stomach pain, taken off aspirin 3.5 m ago, no change. Also Protonix (pantoprazole) 20mg a day.
Yes.: Aspirin can cause erosive gastritis in some people. If you were told to stop it, don't start it again. Also, don't take ibuprofen, or naprosyn. Call your doctor about the best meds for you to take and in what dosage for pain If you have persistent pain not responding to Protonix (pantoprazole) also call your doc for help. If dizziness, increasing pain, fever, vomiting, blood in stool (black or red) to ER.
No: That combination would increase the risk of a significant GI bleed.See 1 more doctor answer
