What is the best OTC to take for drainage and runny nose?

What is the best OTC to take for drainage and runny nose?

Zyrtec, (cetirizine) saline: For otc drying try zyrtec or Benadryl (diphenhydramine) if you can handle the sedation. Don't drive on benadryl (diphenhydramine). Nasal saline rinses can be helpful. Some people swear pseudophed dries them out but I don't know why. Better airflow I suppose.

Runny nose, drainage from nose in back throat, sneezing, head pressure, have orthostatic hypotension, any suggestions on OTC medicine I can take?

Runny nose, drainage from nose in back throat, sneezing, head pressure, have orthostatic hypotension, any suggestions on OTC medicine I can take?

Insuff information: You need to see an internist to be properly triaged. Stuffy noses are common, orthostatic hypotension is a real problem that needs to be addressed. Do not know what meds you are taking, or prior medical history.

Have a runny nose all the time but don't have a cold and it runs down my throat a lot of drainage what can I take?

Nasal drip: Try over-the-counter zyrtec or Allegra or generic antihistamines and see if it improves your postnasal drip. If not see ENT or allergist to get a allergy work up and prescribe nasal steroid or antihistamine.

8 1/2 month old w/ stuffy/runny nose drainage down throat some difficulty breathing and fever but can't get an accurate read, should I take him to er?

Viral syndrome: If the difficult breathing is more than from the congestion, then you need to take him to ER. Other than that lots of fluids, acetaminophen/ibuprofen for the fever should be okay until the morning. Take him into a steamy bathroom with the water running and use saline drops with suctioning. Good Luck.

I have a 8 1/2 month old son who is having some trouble breathing due to stuffy/runny nose and drainage down his throat should I take him to the er?

Stuffy nose: Before running off to the ER use a bulb syringe to suck out excess mucus. Use salt water nose drops to keep nasal passage free. Use a vaporizer with an elevated mattress when sleeping

Thick green discharge from both of my 3 yr olds eyes, he also has runny nose...What could this be? Should I take him to e.R. Now

Thick green discharge from both of my 3 yr olds eyes, he also has runny nose...What could this be? Should I take him to e.R. Now

Sounds like a cold: Colds do not require a visit to the er. Tylenol, (acetaminophen) fluids, rest and time. Take him to a family practice doctor or pediatrician (or even urgent care doctor) if he doesn't get better in a few days.

Close observation: Ok to wait if he is happy, active and eating well, check out with your pediatrician if he is fussy, vomiting, not eating well, fever more than 3 days also deserve a trip to the doctor, Green snot does not mean much.

Excessive nasal drainage and corresponding cough to go with it. What's the best plan of action to be better in 24 hours for my acts?

Excessive nasal drainage and corresponding cough to go with it. What's the best plan of action to be better in 24 hours for my acts?

Manage symptoms: Saline nasal rinses, hydration and Mucinex can help to clear mucous. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can reduce drainage but would not use it during day as it is sedating and affect mental performance. Honey and dextromethorphin can reduce the cough. Sudafed can treat the congestion. Good luck on the test.

Unusual: An acute sinusitis is usually accompanied by drainage and sinus pressure or pain. Chronic infections may be unaccompanied by drainage and just have sinus pressure/pain.

I develop a runny nose when I run and it persists throughout my exercise. It's more frequent in winter. Is there medication to prevent drainage?

Exercise Induced: Rhinitis, is not uncommon, and affects some individuals who may be suffering as well from other forms of nasal problems, or not at all; at any rate try some OTC nasal steroid sprays before exercise, check with an allergist/immunologist for better evaluation (see aaaai. Org or acaai. Org) and see link below for more info, good luck https://www. Verywell. Com/exercise-induced-rhinitis-1191916

Get rechecked: I would advise going back to get rechecked if you feel worse and had to stop the Amoxicillin early. A different antibiotic could be prescribed that may have fewer side effects. Also want to make sure you aren't developing something more serious like pneumonia which only your doctor can tell after examination and possibly a chest xray. Could also be a sinus infection. Just get rechecked!

Conjunctivitis, URI: This could be a mucoid discharge related to a viral infection or the fore runner of a bacterial infection which would require a topical antibiotic.

What is it? I have sinus pain and toothache. The following also describe me: Runny nose, Headache, and Nasal drainage

Sinusitis: Inflammation of the maxillary sinuses will often result in pain in the maxillary molar and premolar area. The roots of these teeth are in such close proximity to the floor of the sinus that the pain becomes referred.

2 yr old son has a constant cough due to runny nose drainage. Anything avail to use to "dry him out" like sudafed does for me?

Not really: Most otc cough ; cold meds are not indicated for children under 4 years old- either because they don't really work or they have more side effects in younger children. Use saline nose drops and suction out his nose- as often as needed. Apply vaseline to the edges of his nose if irritated. Honey can be used for cough in kids over 1 yr old. If he's not better, see your pediatrician.

Virus: Yes, you likely have a virus. Drink plenty of fluids, get plenty of rest. Consult with us if you need an Rx for Tamiflu if you have been around anyone with the flu if symptoms started less than 48hrs. See eyedoc2020@blogspot. Com for more info.
