Soft Tissue Density
The body is composed of tissue that are classically described as beiing derived from three basic embyonic layers known as the endoderm, mesoderm and ectoderm that then differentiate into the structures that compose the body such as skin, soft tissues, bone, muscle, organs, etc. Stem cells are not differentiated and have the potential to ...Read more
Nasal Sinus X-rays : The densities are either an active infection in the sinuses or most likely residual chronic inflammation from previous infections. The findings do not sound serious unless severe acute pain and fever is present. The best option is to review the radiographic evaluation with the ordering physician or an ENT specialist. ...Read more

They found a 3.8cm soft tissue density in my girlfriends abdomen along with gall stones, What can the soft tissue density be?
What does 'prominent soft tissue density demonstrating decreased attenuation on postcontrast imaging' mean on a CT report?
Depends...: Depends on where in the body it is what structure it is referring to - like a lymph node, in an organ, outside an organ or lymph node region, or in the subcutaneous tissues. I would need more information to expand more. ...Read more
What does 'prominent soft tissue density in the cervical region demonstrating low attenuation on post-contrast imaging' mean on a pelvic CT report?
Need more info: The presence of a density in the frontal sinus on a cat scan may be insignificant. We need more information on the size of the density, whether or not you have symptoms of pain, fullness or pressure in that area of the head. A radiologist may see a density of a few mm. Which is insignificant. Tell us more about the specifics of this density and your symptoms. ...Read more
Meaning? 1.1 cm soft tissue density and hypermetabolic activity in deep rt parotid gland, SUV peak 3.7.
Possibly malignancy: Any solitary lesion of parotid should be resected with the possibity of malignancy. PET here being positive suggests lesion is cancer but low SUV with peak of 3.7 indicates lower grade malignancy. With possible deep lobe involvement, removing both lobes would require that at time of facial n. dissection that only ophthalmic and ramus be preserved. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Foot xray: Soft tissue in the foot involves the skin.fat ,tendons ,nerves, and ligaments. Typically the description of a soft tissue density means that there is a substance there which does not normally exist there. Most of the time it is nothing to worry about as it typically is something like a calcified blood vessel , or perhaps a small piece of foreign material that has entered under the skin. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
What would cause no spinal fluid to be seen in one auditory canal on MRI but seen on the other. Mentioned soft tissue density on that side. ?
? Mass vs. Vol Ave.: Depending on the MRI protocol, it is possible there is slight angling of the image, and one side is seen well while the other is not as clearly seen. This is called volume averaging. It is more likely on a routine head mri, and unlikely on a dedicated MRI of the internal auditory canals. It is also possible there is soft tissue is in one auditory canal. Was there enhancement after contrast? ...Read more
Ct Rpt- curvilinear soft tissue density with irregular peripheral margins in the subcutaneous fat in thigh measures 16.4 x 2.3 x 10.1cm - Sarcoma?
Possible liposarcoma: Large tumor masses in thigh usually represent sarcoma. In subcutaneous fat probably liposarcoma but dx must be established by complete removal and examination of lesion. A large liposarcoma may be composed of benign lipoma in 70-80% of lesion and 20-30 % sites of sarcoma. An at random bx in the OR can frequently yield a dx of a benign lesion when complete examination reveals the malignancy/ ...Read more

CAT scan came back saying multiple scattered soft tissue density foci in upper cervical subcutaneous calcification of pineal gland. What's meaning?
Please repost: You left something out. However: You didn't just pass by a CT scan facility & decide to go in & make an impulse purchase. Your doctor ordered the CT for a reason. You haven't bothered to state the reason. The CT isn't the patient, you are. The ordering MD who knows you is ethically obligated to interpret the CT for you in the context of you as a patient, or if they can't, to find someone who can. ...Read more

Wha does this mean, soft tissue densities within mastoid cells, middle ear cavity and sphenoid sinus and calcific density in brain paren occipital reg?
Nonspecific : Soft tissue densities in the normally air filled mastoid, middle ear and sinus cavities indicates there is some type of chronic, long term inflammation in those areas. It could indicate chronic infection, as well. It depends on your clinical condition and how severe those findings are to really give you an idea of what this means to you. The brain finding is not uncommon, discuss with doctor. ...Read more

Comparison is made to previous studies
The mammary tissue is heterogeneously dense which lowers the sensitivity of mammography. Apparently new compared to previous studies is a smoothly marginated 7mm low density ovoid nodule a
I don't have the : full report, but it sounds like there might be a new finding on screening mammography. The next step is usually a more complete imaging evaluation with diagnostic mammography and probably ultrasound. A final diagnostic code(BIRADS) for the nodule will be determined based on the imaging findings: benign(no followup),probably benign(6 month f/u), suspicious, highly suspicious( needle biopsy ) ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
