What Is Severe Vision Loss
I know someone who went from significant to severe vision loss in 1 yr. Despite drops & laser. How can it go that fast?
Variable: The rate at which glaucoma damages the nerve is based on various factors. The more damage there is to the optic nerve, the lowrt the pressure needs to be to avoid further damage. The key is to be aggressive in staying ahead of progressive nerve loss, and to go to surgery sooner if needed. ...Read more

Treat aggressively: If your mother already has severe vision loss, and her glaucoma is not controlled, i would advise that the pressure be addressed aggressively. She does not have the luxury of small stepwise measures anymore, as everyday her glaucoma is not controlled, she continues to lose more vision. One can also use condoms in addition to a method from the ob-gyn, for maximum protection. Vasectomy for the husband is an option, but rather permanent. ...Read more
