What is questran (cholestyramine) used for?

Binding Bile Salts: Questran (cholestyramine) is a bile acid sequestrate that works by binding bile salts and cholesterol preventing their absorption in the GI tract. If the cause of the diarrhea is something else, like shortened bowel after surgery or due to chemotherapy, it may not make a difference. For diarrhea that has not responded to the usual medications, it may be worth a try. ...Read more
