Hi I want to ask if adol syrup can be given to a newborn baby who is 2 weeks of age? Thanks

No no no: Do NOT give your newborn this syrup! It has a narcotic in it. It is a combination of hydrocodone and acetaminophen. If your newborn is ill enough that you think they need medication of some sort, then take your baby to the doctor pronto. If another doctor gave you this medicine to give to your baby, I'd get a second opinion immediately. I find no need for this medication in the newborn period ...Read more

How long does a cough from acute bronchitis last? I have already seen my doctor and been given hydromet syrup to control the cough.

Acute is < 2 weeks.: The term "acute bronchitis" is a description of a problem, not a diagnosis. It could be viral, or a complication of smoking, or a mycoplasma infection, or asthma. It may take more than one visit to tell if your cough lasts more than two weeks. And young adults are susceptible to pertussis (whooping cough), which can last 3 months. Did you get your pertussis vaccine? ...Read more

I have had a cough for five weeks what is going on? I went to urgent care two weeks ago and he said I had bronchitis. I was given antibiotics for 10 days and a cough syrup. So I didn't get better and went back to my pcp a week ago and he did a chest X-ray

The: The most important thing to rule out is pneumonia. Although your chest x-ray did not show pneumonia there is a chance it was too early to be seen on the x ray, it developed afterward, or was missed. Pneumonia commonly occurs after a viral URI (cold) or bronchitis, so it is a real possibility especially since you have a persistent cough.
I hope a diagnosis is found soon and effective treatment follows.
Best of luck. ...Read more
