What Is Hla B27 Positive
I am hla-b27 positive. I've suddenly had 6 iritis flareups in the last 2 years. I think they are caused by contact lens abuse. Thoughts please.
I am suffering with severe pain in my hips for last 5 yrs, have hla b27 positive. Mri was okay. Please advice?
AS: Ankylosing spondylitis is of concern. A plain x-ray of the sacroiliac joints would pick up images of bone sclerosis better than an mri. A rheumatologist can discern and advise. Traumatic injury to the sacroiliac joints is a consideration. Has there been participation in extreme sports? An osteopath can evaluate injury to the sacroiliac joints. ...Read more
I had a positive HLA B27, positive ANA, positive SM anitobody, and a positive RNP. And Raynauds, is this likely Lupus?
Lupus is a clinical: Diagnosis, made based on the presence of physical symptoms and specific organ involvement and is not a diagnosis made by the presence of a genotype or auto antibody. What symptoms have you had that prompted your physician to do this series of tests? What is the opinion of the rheumatologist seeing you (or are you still awaiting a visit with rheum?) These disorders are complex/overlap. Talk w/ URMD ...Read more

Positive for hla-b27.This procedure rules out the b27:06 & 27:09 alleles which lit suggests aren't associated w/ spondyloarthropathies. What this mean?
Spondyloarthritis: Hlab27 is a generic marker that is in 8% of the caucasian population. Many people with diseased called spondyloarthropathies (ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, and crohns/uc related arthritis) will have a positive b27, but not all those with b27 will develop issues (in fact, the vast majority don't). The larger question is are the symptoms consistent with spondyloarthropathy. ...Read more

Had 2 blood tests for hla b27. 1st test came back positive; 2nd test (pcr) came back negative. What would be the difference between the two tests?
If blood test by PCR was negative for hla b27, does this mean I definitely don't have it? (one other blood test was positive; not sure of the type).
2 blood tests done for hla b27: one was pos. And one was neg. (pcr). What is the difference of tests & what would trigger a positive with first test?
So, one test by pcr, the other test is what?
If the two tests were different, do the test that is known to be more sensitive and get two readings of it. ...Read more
My doctor said me that I am suffering from seronegative spondyloarthropathy. My crp is high 27. My hla-b27 report is also positive.
If both parents are HLA-B27+ would that guarantee all offspring to have the gene? If so would only 1 positive parent make it a 50% chance?
No: Mendel's laws. Each parent has one copy of this and one copy of another. Let us assume neither parent has two copies. There is a 75% chance. Now, why do you ask? HLA-B27 is common, and the only thing that makes it troublesome is that it gives a few percent of folks joint problems. It is not a reason to forego parenthood. Ask whether your sacroileitis might benefit from today's new Rx's. ...Read more
Few cases of iritis. Had hla-b27 blood test done. One was positive, one was negative (by pcr). Since PCR is most sensitive, does this mean I'm clear?
If positive for the hla b27 gene and 2cases of iritis, does this mean I have ankylosing spondylitis for sure? R these 2 factors enough for a diagnosis?
Hi. I just want you to ask about stem cell therapy. Actually before hla b27 was positive now doctor said me to do hip replacement so what I do?
Don't quite undersz: -stand the question. Pretty young for ankylosisng spondyosis 2 appear. Also there R about 10% or so false positives. No stem cell activity in degerative hip disease. R U sure of AS? Personally I suspect it the HLA-B27 is false& any hip disease is unrelated. Get in 2 C an internist who specializes in AS. Also get a second opinion. ...Read more
What autoimmune diseases may cause raised ALT, ankle pain, chest pain, spine & shoulder pain without ANA, HLA B27 being positive?
Sounds like you have already had a "work-up" for your symptoms (ANA. HLA B27 are not :common" tests
The raised ALT may or may not be associated with your other symptoms. Do you have a liver problem? Hepatitis B, C often cause associated joint problems.
Get this checked out by the same Health Care Provider who obtained the blood tests you mention
Hope this helps

Tissue type at B: Hla = human leukocyte antigen. Important in recognition of self and not self. Different proteins (antigens) for different people. Not needed: It requires no cure. Hla-b27 is a marker protein present in patients with certain diseases but it is also present in healthy individuals. Having a positive hla-b27 does not diagnose any disease. It should only be run in cases where there is suspicion of a particular disease in which case it can assist in making a diagnosis. ...Read more
